I was looking at my Schwarzpz.58 and my Pz. 58 Mutz.

2 tanks that are the same and that I love playing.

And that got me thinking about have more that one copy of each tank.

Would it make any real difference if I had 2 copies of a VK 45.02 B

I would still have to pay full price for tank number 2.

I would still have to have a extra crew for tank number 2.

I would still have to buy new equipment and a garage for tank 2.

All in all I would have to pay more credits and gold with is good for WG.

But I can play the tank that I like more often.

The only bad think I can think about it bots going full jolo and then do the same with tank number 2.

But they should be easy to spot and ban for WG.

What do you think?

Do they have to be black?

How about tank locking? If for example your obj. 140 is locked, is the copy locked too?

No, black tanks seem to be WG lazy approach to making a premium tank.

Perhaps I we made so you can only have a extra copy of full unlocked tank. (Elite status)

That way they will just be a premium tank without the credits xp and crew bonus.

If the first copy obj. 140 is still in battle, then all its equipment and crew are lock with it.

But you can play the second copy of obj. 140, but it will have its own equipment and crew.

So it there will be little difference between having two obj. 140 and having one obj. 140 and one T-62A.

But... why?

That was one of the most boring things in WT:GF - most tanks were basically the same. So why would you like to buy the same tank again?

No real reason, other than being able to play more game in the same take.

As it will allow players that have only unlock one tier 10 to play more games in that tank.

For example a new player have unlock the obj. 140, he platoons with a veteran player that has many tier 10.

They both die half way through the first battle and the veteran player want to play with another of his tier 10.

No they have to wait for the battle to finish to do this, but if they new players could own two obj. 140 they would not have to.

And do not think of this as an actual suggestion, just as a discussion to pas the time.

He would still need 2 decent crews.

If you die and don't have another tier 10 play the next choice in line. If you don't like that don't die.

That could be a way to introduce tier X premiums.

Once you have unlocked a tier X, you may buy a premium copy.

Could work.

i dont really get the use of that i mean there should at least 2-3 tanks in your garage you like to play switch among them and you dont need anything twice or more

If they can afford the six million credits again.

I have not yet bought all the tier X I have unlocked, never mind buying two of each.

Well WG thinks that someone finds the appealing.

They have be making a few premium tanks where you pay real money for the same tank.

One with a custom paint job and one where you can put normal camouflage on.

What do you think?

This is more or less impossible with the current game design.

Each tank in your garage has a tank id ( T-34 for instance has id 1) and thus your stats, equipment and so on isn't linked to the T-34 but to "tank id 1".

And when you enter a battle with your T-34, for all the other players to know which tank you're playing, the server sends "slitth is playing tank id 1" to all of them.

This the correlates to the actual tank model files on disk which is used to display the tank moving in-game.

So in order for you to get another VK45.02B, there needs to be another tank id attached to the second copy which means that all tanks would have to have two id's and what happens if someone wants a third or a fourth copy?

The matter is further complicated by the fact that there is a specific algorithm to assign tank ids depending on nation which means that although there are huge gaps in the id series it's because of future use for other nations.

More specifically I think that the id can't be bigger than 64k, none of the current tanks have id larger than 64817 ( Type 64), i.e a development decision which might seem easy to fix, but might have huge implications in order to fix...

There would be no real incentive for WG to let you play T10 at will without any (real) concern for credits. At this point it would make sense for tanks to get a 'gold upgrade' that turns them into a (semi-) premium if they are researched.

Might cause a bit of imbalance, though. It would be too obvious to put the upgrade on e.g. a T29 because it's cheap and a very strong tank... and cause a whole lot of problems if they were to uphold the "don't nerf stuff people payed real money for".

Might also lead to less diversity. People get more incentive to play certain broken tanks of their tier - pretty sure we don't need another era of World of KV-1S+Hellcat?

There's little to no meaning to have a tank twice, unless there is a good reason, like different guns that lead to complete different playstyles that need other crew and equipment setups, why someone want to have two of the same tank?

People asked this back in the days of beta, technical limitations of the game engine were cited as to why it couldn't be implemented.
I assume that they do it now (as with the case of the current reskined versions of tanks) by adding a separate copy of the tank in to the game files, which, if you do it for every tank, would dramatically increase the size of the client.
