WG there is no need to explain myself here. Just sort this abomination of a camp fest out. Thank you...

That map needs a small change which makes it possible to cross river on more places while also either camping side of river easier to attack.

As long as that lake is there, that map will be broken. As everyone want's to stay on their side. As the "don't cross" mentality is the new thing on that map of late. Unless you defend on assault. Then everyone want's to defend the spawn area. Not the side the base is on for some reason.

Tho not as bad as on console, where they put the spawn on F2 and F9, more or less on the camping spots. And the pro tip they had for the map was "win your side first".... so hardly anyone leaves spawn. So be happy it's not that bad.

I am more annoyed by the 2 or 3 plebs that decide its viable to throw their top tier tanks into a fight with 15 enemy tanks and die in 2 minutes essentially making it an auto loss.

I like that map.  I can cope with the odd pause.   If you want manic no-camp brainless play WG have a special map for you

This map is an example of a non-corridor map (relatively) and is still absolute dog sh1t.

Yeah, that map is lame.
The major problem I see: The engaging areas are WAY too small. If the castle had more cover and if the camping area in the north was more stretched, it wouldn't be that much of a Campbell. Same on the right side, where you have three tiny ridgeline to brawl.
Basically, it's the old corridor problem.

I agree Paris is a crapmap.. the thing is I do not believe that can be fixed easily if at all.. Erlenberg however is potentially an amazing map to play. It just needs some minor tweaks to open what appears to be an open map... up!

Almost every time derpenberg assault is running the defenders leave north of castle unguarded and you can take the hills and shoot them in town if there are any...most of the time they just camp in the north-east corner in the trees. Have made my way up to the cap area on many occasions using the left flank without being slowed down that much and just sat there waiting for the bar to fill up. When they realize it and have to move they are in the open and are easy picking. I only had a few occasions as defender where some players actually put up a working defense north of the castle. Tbh i hated it but i like it more now.

the motto of this map is "you cross you die" literally. just sit at your side for 5-10 mins and who ever gets bored pushes and gets annihilated.

the game desperately needs new maps!

Nah, it is "play 2-3 min agressive and then drive something else while the bushwankers stare at eachother"

Erlenberg with 5+ TDs per side is a battle where it is less "lets win this" but rather "please make it stop". Of course when you have reserves running you are better of yolo-ing in and then playing 2 more battles instead of waiting those 10 min.

Yeah the map has great potential but needs fixing as in higher stage RB EVERYONE camps. you dont get the 2-4 noobs rushing to die like in randoms. you might as well go AFK for 15 mins.

I turned on assault recently after a couple of years without and bascially it's the exact opposite of standard (always cross) - i think this might be where folk get confused and suicide.

However I've no idea how to rectify the map

I brought this topic up a few days ago.

Not many seemed to agree though.

When Erlenberg pops up I really need to refrain from rushing in and die fast, just like for Paris.

The problem is they are revamping maps in HD which means they won't be that easy to changer afterwards and seeing they have redone Mines, I have little faith in WG's maps division.

Spoiler

Haha, there's usually enough idiots on one team insist on crossing the river to let the other team win.

MORE crossing places?  You can practically cross everywhere now anyway.  It was better (less campy anyway) when you only had the bridges and wrecks couldn't be pushed.  If you didn't cross early there was a good chance you never would.

I allways cross. Better a quick and painfull death browling with half of the enemy team than 15 minutes of boring campfeast. One day I will find the brave team that will follow me to a glorious victory.

Untill then, any player who preferes camping instead intercept the enemy before it can reach camping position deserve to lose, IMO.

Add a little 'Fishermans Bay' and u got yourself a super camp-fest right there.

I gotta wonder if the problem isn't just the maps themselves but a combo of that and the ultra rigid play style that seems to have infected any tier above VII.

It's one of the reasons I loathe higher tier games - no variation - nobody willing to try anything different etc etc.

'This is the way the game must be played and festering boils upon anyone who dares to be different'

That's actually a good point aswell.
The I'm a TD so I camp / I'm a light so I yolo mentality.

But that's not just confined to this map

Worst map in the game.

I actually prefer Paris over it.
