Since when or who made it viral to camp column 9 if you spawn at K and camp 2 if you spawn at A at the Erlenburg map?

Derpenberg is a massive campfest as it is, it needs fixing.

Since it's logical to stay on the side of the river where your cap is.

Yes that very true, but until recently people were splitting, heavy at 2 and medium at 9 with some at middle and lights trying to spot over the hill at 0 and 1....now the teams split and camp the ridge lines???

Always been like that - you cross the river, you risk of dying coz there will be noone to support you. Or there will be too few.
People with lower wit always cross and always become an easy pray. South spawn pushes 9 line, North spawn pushes 2 line. Both sides loose whoever has crossed the river and after that, they both go back to defend their caps. Prolly got over 1000 battles on this map and even with the changes to it, it's still a retarded campfest. Remember how it used to look with the caps in the middle ? Yeah, that map was doomed to be a failure from the get-go. No clue why WG still keep it in rotation. But then again - we have Paris to complain about now, so Derpenberg kinda is getting the hairdryer treatment. Well, why not bring Komarin back then ?

Since it became a winning tactic.

It wasn't.  When you could only cross by the bridges and the cap zones were more central then the winning tactic was all cross the river and push.

Now if by some miracle you cross the river with enough force to win then you don't have anyone to defend and will get ninja capped from behind.

I usually drive to the center of the map and see what happens. Good = good, bad = next

I like these maps, where the 'snipers' can't shoot each other, but both can shoot the tanks that decide to spot/not camp. Sand River (assault) also comes to mind.

Open maps are so fun sometimes.

Since crossing the river almost always leads to defeat from either spawn.

On Erlenberg, I love how many dots are in the water, especially the condensed water heat locations away from the water crossings. And you realize why no true Erlenberg match isn't complete without it's obligatory drowning.

The Siren of Erlenberg has a voracious appetite after all & she will see it satisifed.

:teethhappy:

There also appears to be a few dots on the middle island in the river, forever immortalized on this heat map. Be proud boys.

Also the one lone green dot right in the center of the river in the middle of the map. How the heck did he get there? AFAIR that river is fairly wide and very deep....

Yes. Open maps are fine, but due to the limitations of the spotting system and distances involved, you get a 'no-mans land' between the sniping positions. It's also, arguably, a problem that going into the enemy cap often means crossing or staying in very open terrain.
El Halluf was better with the square spotting, for instance. Now it's just about winning the heavy flank or getting tanks up one side (which ultimately just forces the heavies to return to defend). Erlenberg kind of the same story. I honestly doubt anyone actually likes the 'no-mans land' on maps, and would actually find it more fun to take that little bit of risk and support a flank - which currently is either "impossible" or way too risky.

(Doesn't have to be that open either. Fisherman's Bay is notoriously easy to defend, especially on the north side. TDs on the A1 hill and a LT/small TD camping with binos on the opposite side of cap in a bush. Enemy has practically no chance to get into the cap or into A1 without getting shot at, and a well-camoed TD almost has to be proxy-spotted to be detected. Fun stuff!

Am I the only one, who actually likes the map? It has slow gameplay, but not too slow.
