I need a new line to play after I finish Brit heavies and I'd love to get a medium line going.

Now I'm split between these, because...

The Czech have an interesting playstyle - dying to HE, but having rapidly-reloading autoloaders. They seem the least enticing.

The French meds i'm the closest to, since I already have the tier VIII batchat, plus they are known to be snipey and fast and I like that.

Russian tanks with rear-mounted turrets also seem interesting, especially when you can select one of the three tier X meds at the end of it.

The Japs for me are the most enticing, because of the variety in their tech tree. The Chi-To and Chi-Nu are sniper meds, then there is an autoloader and then you have three regular mediums, with the last one having a pretty nicely-sloped turret. Also, they have great gun depression.

Which one of these would you recommend and why?

EDIT:

Just for the info, I'm not into playing the german meds too much, altough there are interesting tanks in there, the Americans are great, but I'm not interested in them really and I already have one british line - the heavies, so I don't want those.

Try both out on the test server because which you consider the best is whats important.

I would recommend the Japanese line if not for 1 tank; the Type 61. It is probably the worst tier 9 tank I have played, and you are stuck with it for a long time as it is a long grind to unlock the tier 10.

Is it really bad? I don't see it often enough to shoot at it or get shot-at by it. It's almost as rare as the Churchill GC for me.

IMO, yes. No armour, meh mobility, potato thrower of a gun. Has been badly power crept.

I'd say go for amx 30. It's basically a better leo. The only down side is that there is no dedicated line behind it which kind of means you are at tier 9 without being able to learn how to play with it at tier 7 or 8. Japanese mediums are fine but not competent. The only tank worth getting is tier 10 and the rest are somewhere around mediocre. They are not good due to terrible armour and equally terrible mobility but they are not bad either.

Chi-ri tho. You are going to hurt your economy if you play that tank.

Rear mounted turret worst thing that could happen to MT. Obj 416 is a very good TD. Obj 430 II is a tragedy, my vote for worst tier 9 med or maybe worst in all tier 9.

Czech line .. fun starts only at tier 9.

Japan unknown zone yet.

So all recommendations on French no difference BC line or AMX line. both fun :)

Looking at your tanks, you are already at T20 on yankee line. Keep at it. T9 and 10 are fabulous. T8 is great too!

Yeah. US MTs are probably the most enjoyable line in the game.

The US line is fantastic.  I've done the T54 -> Obj140 line and I really do better with the normal turrets versus the ream mounted ones.    Hop on the Test server while it is active and try some tanks out.

Just what Search said, the Chi-Ri is 100% good enough reason to pick the Japanese MT line :^)

though Search, O-Ho is above even the Chi-Ri

as far as i plaed these line they always get some  really bad tank mixed in to stop/slow/make you spend free exp

Chi-Ri is such a tank to hate

TVP is surely such a tank to hate

but wouldnt be the main topic what do you want as T10 ? sniper ? brawler? allrounder?

after finishing the brit heavies you could go for their meds to make use of already researched modules ...

It's my 3rd most played tank and I've even 3 marked it, the tank is totally worth it:hiding:

Once you get used to the Chi-Ri being the size of a house with mobility to match, having the armour of a wet paper bag and being useless unless supported by roughly half your team, the auto-loader is fun until you've fired the first clip and need to reload.

I still quite liked it but then I also liked the TVP VTU with upgraded turret and the 105mm gun. I'm weird like that.

The Russian meds are fantastic, just great alround and lead to what's probably the best med in the game. And the line has very few stinkers. EDIT: sorry, missed the fact that you were talking about the rear-mounted ones, no experience with those.

The Czech line is a giant heap of frustration, the t25 is fun, but the tier 7 (and from what I hear) the tier 8 are garbage.

The AMX30 is a great tank and the line is really fun and leaves you 3 options from tier 8 on. Downsides are the tier 8 which you play to research 3 tanks is pretty meh, it's not bad, but compared to the 13 75 it's just no real upgrade. Also, it's lights until tier 9, which is not what you might be looking for if you want to play a medium line.

The American med line is a bit of a mixed bag for me. Low tiers are good. I hated the t20, but there's quite some people who love it. The tier 8 is great, but its pen is pretty lackluster for the current tier 8 matchmaking. I enjoyed playing it, but I just couldn't win in it even though I do great in the Pilot...

(1) As many above have said you have the T20 so go up the USA medium line which are all good.

(2) USSR rear turret tanks, the A43 and A44 are average, the Object 416 is awesome but expensive in silver to run, the Object 430 II is awkward and so inconsistent, huge games and poor games, little inbetween. Object 430 is the worst of the tier X cousins

(3) French - you need to play light tanks to open the AMX 30 first proto at tier IX. The first proto was good (less so since patch), the issue is how you skill your crew and how much gold you spend transfering them.

(4) Japs. I like and kept the STA, Type 61 and STB. They all play nicely, although the non-elite grinds are a bit harsh. Decent, not as good as the USA meds after the USA meds were recently buffed. The Chi-Ri at tier VII I sold. It's a "flat track bully". So against lower and same tier it can bully with the autoloader. Against tiers VIII and IX it's a complete liability in a team due to very low penetration. Yes it's huge, slow, and has no armour, but it's all about the burst, and clipping out tiers V,VI and VII. But in a different match it will repeatedly bounce all shells against tier VIII.

(5) Czechs the tier VI was fun with it's little auto loader. The VII I enjoyed but some do not like due to uncomfortable as lacking gun depression. The VIII I played stock turret and 88 gives gun handling and depression, you lose alpha, hp, and view range. Compromised vehicle. The IX is where the fun starts. However high level auto loaders take game skill to play. Watch map, anticipate when to move in, unload, having already thought about avenue out without taking damage, where to move to while reloading to deliver next clip.

Recommend you play USA for most fun.

In poll voted USSR as most forgiving.

I have played all those lines and have all the tier X mediums ingame unlocked.
