Hey fellow tankers,

Being a heavytank player mostly, i'm considering my next tier X to be PZ. Kpfw. VII. I'm also considering Maus. ( with a slight intend of  I'v done the comparison on GG and also my research and i think i'll get them both :D But first the PZ. Im curious from your point of view which one is more suited for randoms/ranked.  PZ VII gameplay includes also some use of hulldown more effectively than maus due to it's turret which isn't autopen by heat. Also sidecraping in PZ VII seems to be tricky due to it's weakspot (side turret ring ). Well that being said, i await your opinions ^^

Pz 7 hulldown is a joke. The mantlet is a weackspot. Get a good E-100 instead. Is balanced, got high alpha and HE are sn option against hulldown tanks.

Of the 3, the Pz is the weakest imo. All 3 have good guns tho.

It has powerful front armor, but sacrifices alot for it; no hulldown (or at least, not effective with it), that gun mantlet is a real weakspot. Also, the turret bulge on side hampers it badly in many sidescraping attempts. Still a strong tank, but it can be frustrating to play. Nice punchy gun too.

Maus is very well armored. know your angles & armor and you can drive about anything mad that tries shooting you. The gun is pretty accurate to boot, nice to snapshot with. terribly slow tho, part of the reason why you don't see it that often, despite it being a real powerhouse.

E-100 is the most balanced of the bunch, has a good armor layout, good gun with sensible ammo selection, all 3 ammo shells got their purpose & needs. It has okay mobility. Of the 3, E-100 feels the most flexible, allowing to operate efficiently in more circumstances then the two mentioned above.

I think people underestimate the PZ VII for very good reasons. On paper it's not a great tank and for higher tier ranked it will suck but it works on randoms because pubbies have no idea how to deal with it. Seriously. You will have games where literally no one will know your weakspots and since few people grind it I doubt it will change soon. The gun also works better than it should

Still Maus, even after they "nerfed" it and I'm putting nerfed here in brackets because it's still has completely broken armour and gun handling.

Pz.Kpfw VII is a real big pain to deal from front. I do not like to use gold shells, and those mantlet weakspots feels close to pixel shots.

Maus is really strong overall, but if it shows lower plate, it is easy killable.

E-100 is the biggest cheese from these 3 from my perspective.

But you may feel to bypass this opinion, as I am not fond of superheavies. This is more from a point to fight them with innacurate guns.

none of them cause of the "skill" ammo

a obj416 have no problem pen those tanks, and is one of the most normal to mediocre tier 8 tank

Pz VII is funny in randoms, only people who take interest in the game and use the forums know where to shoot it.

1. Obj416 is the best t8 med

2. You suck at angling if obj416 pens you in superheavies. Especially in a Maus which angled will be unpenetrable to obj416

I was about to write my own long analysis of the three but Urqan pretty much sums up exactly what I would have said. The only other thing I would have said is the Maus makes HT 15 missions easy.

For randoms I would go with pz VII first for the simple reason mentioned above. It is very unfamiliar to majority of players who will not know how to deal with it. LFP which is usually the weakspot isnt really a weakspot here. Unangled it has the thickness of UFP of many well armored tanks. UFP is pretty much impenetrable unless you have the higher ground and even then it has a very decent armor. The actual weakspots are pretty hard to hit in the heat of battle and thats for players who actually know about them. Gun is also very decent too with good alpha.

Maus for ranked -> many city maps and it has the best overall armor which you can improve with angling very easily, reliable gun, only problem is slow speed.

E100 is still good for randoms but I wouldnt use it in ranked. It is the most vulnerable to premium shells and the turret cheeks are pretty big and easily hit.

There's arguably a 15-20 degree field (at best) where the Maus is unpenetrable by 330mm-HEAT. Kind of broken, though at least it is a T8 medium with some special feature.

Pretty sure the 416 is among the best T8 mediums, and arguably one of the better T8 tanks overall to play in a bottom-tier support role (save for TDs). Even without (too much) HEAT it's still among my top picks, far better DPM than most other T8s, as well as higher damage per shot than anything short of STG, T-34-2/3 and Rev.

PZ. Kpfw. VII - just because it's turret reminds me of Metal Mickey:)

E100 is a good all round heavy but at the moment I'd say go for the Maus or type 5.  Plenty of armour and good guns on both.

Well, i'm personally going for the Pz. VII, i saw some pretty sick replays with it and it has the most mobility.

Also, 45.02 A might be interesting, and is probably better than the Tiger II, while the 45.02 B is still a very good t9, and great tank for HT15.

Thanks man, but i will not ever in this life buy such a dull/broken/aberrant tank like Type 5 Heavy.  it's just...not for me :))
