Yes yes I know...it is a bit old but the fact is that to date there is no better "MMORPG" out there (still). Yeah sure games like World of Warcraft are bigger...but this game is still going strong after 15 years or more and it is still the best adaption of Dungeons and Dragons to a computer games ever made!

So if you want an in depth roleplaying experience with tactical battles you should definately try this.

The good news is that...with some help...I managed to get my favourite Persistent World (PW) server hosted again. So basically it is just to start to play, grind, craft and roleplay :-)

I am looking for some adventurous souls to co-op with. Post a message here if you are interested. I prefer if you have a headset and can install teamspeak.

What do you need to play?

Well...you need Neverwinter Nights 1. The only place I know where you can still buy it is this:

http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/neverwinter_nights_diamond_edition

For some reason the game you recieve there is not full...lol...se bear with me...you have to get the critical rebuild patch:

https://neverwintervault.org/project/nwn1/other/patch/169-critical-rebuild-english

About online multiplayer, quote from the GoG site:

Block Quote

Multiplayer notice: In order to access the multiplayer portion of the game, you must first enter your unique cd-key. This CD key can be found in your account page. Please be advised that online master servers are no longer functional. Please use the Direct Connect option to log onto your preferred server via IP address.

To play on my server you will also need CEP version 2.62 (Community Expansion Pack)

https://neverwintervault.org/cep

which is actually used by many (if not most PW's).

There! You are set to go on spectacular adventures! Just press play on tape!

oh, well, I remember playing NVN some years ago,

I think I played it with a hobbit-ish character and I cheated my way along with artmoney and editing savegames

duping items where I could :)

was a bit unfair in MP tho.

Never really got into the Never Winter games. Was more a fan of the Baldur's Gate style of games.

Well thats kind of the same thing...only newer game :-P

Well...the "original" campaign" in the BG series is ofcourse considered to be the best....but while the original campaign in NWN1 was not considered nearly as good....still because it was released with a toolset...the player made campaigns are supposed to be great.

Not that I know all that about it because I only played online on the Persistent World servers...(BG didnt even have that functionailty....only co-op, maxium 4 players or something).

Also NWN1 is still considered the best "port" of Dungeons & Dragons to a computer game....ever....period  :medal:

Neverwinter Nights (1) was indeed an MMORPG... Back in 1992.

I could set up an UO server any time,

still have all the software and scripts around here somewhere,

complete with custom map, houses, artwork etc. :)

You are talking about another game now.

The NWN I am talking about was released around 2002.

Sorry Pansenn, but NWN beats UO in just about every aspect...

It seems that NWN will soon come in an enhanced edition. Similar to Baldur's Gate and other games that where "enhanced" by the developer Beamdog.

Which is pretty cool...cause if I understand correctly it means that my server (and all other persistent world servers) will be able to migrate to the new version in an easy way...while letting the client enjoy easier installation, improved graphics and functionality and whatnot.

Sounds good.

Except I find no mention of the Infinite Dungeons premium module... it won't be included for some reason?
