I'm interested in people thoughts about what WG dev team should be focusing on to make the game better. I haven't added matching making balance as I think that should be a constant goal they are aiming for.

first fix MM - you said always yet it's still an main issue that will stop existing players carrying on with the game

none, they should be developing a brand new MM system because the current one is FUBAR and not fit for the purpose. As they say in england, you can polish a turd as much as you like, its still a turd.

None of that. Fixing what we already have should be the priority. They are still trying to build a skyscraper on top of a completely broken and brittle base of cheap concrete.

I think making HD Maps is a waste of time and I think making tanks HD is also a waste of time they are just eye candy and an attempt to distract us from the real problems so I voted for the addition of more maps but as many have said above they should focus on other things like the MM.

1. Fixes to MM (the tier 8, pref mm and platoon mm, tho latter is (probably) improved next patch a bit) and to some problematic vehicles.

 

Then new maps and new tank lines. Just dont make V2.0 versions of Paris, and add actually interesting tank lines. If you want to add more premium tanks, focus on adding prems for branches that doesnt have a tier 8 premium yet (which is what you actually have been doing recently). 

 

They should stop focusing on adding new game modes because basically every new game mode has been a failure in a way or another.

The things is that that would be stupid and inefficient. Then you would have half the company working  and have done the same work in twice the time.

 

The WG balance department isnt hald back in any way by mapmaking or anything graphics related.  

The MM team is also completely independent. 

Each team has a focus, the mapmaking team has a HD map focus, the balance team the balance focus( or money making focus, not sure tbh), and the MM is coded by a seperate team.

 

Its not like WG is 10 people that have to focus on each thing one by one.

But I highly doubt that all these departments have the exact same amount of people, budget and other resources.

How do you mean same amount?

They have the amount they need to do their work. 

WG isnt focusing on anything, every department has their focus. And if they really want something to be done faster, all they can do is higher more people for a short time, but they arent doing that for any department.

THe perception that WG is focusing on HD maps jsut isnt true. It doesnt come at a cost of balancing or MM.

THe balance is bad because the team is incompetent, not because lack of focus, the MM is bad becuase they think its fine, not because lack of focus.

 

OPs question actually was a good question, since those are done by the same department, the one that creates graphic models. They are focusing on HD maps right now and he asked if they should shift their focus.

games companies in general are focusing too hard these days on graphics, that they forget the whole reason we, as players, play a game... enjoyment!


 

the game can look as beautiful as ever, but if the gameplay behind that is bad, the whole game will look bad in the eyes of the players... as good as the HD maps look (and they really do look good in HD client) the current maps are perfectly good enough quality... if only there were more of them to play on rather than the select few that we have...


 

EDIT: oh and fixing the forum so it doesn't add masses of spaces below every post!

Budget for what? The only budget for balance changes is the wage for the people working there. You really think they fired people of that department?

 

And btw, the proof is already here,  there have been more balance changes the last year then ever before AND they are making HD maps AND they are tuning the MM.

slightly off topic but with regards the comment on Departments, the problem with this way of working is that every dept. needs to be working on something in order to justify the reason they are been employed. What this can lead to is stupid changes that are not actually needed but have been worked on so get introduced.

depends on how many you actually see... I cant remember the last time I saw a winter map more than once in a session... or a desert one for that matter!

 

in fact I don't even see the point adding winter or desert camo's to my tanks anymore.. it seems a waste of silver and/or gold to do so....


 

there's 35 maps, but are they all in circulation? or are some of those grand battles and TX maps I wont see?
