Hi, everyone.

I can't download and try the sandbox because of the limited download speed.

And I know that the new HD maps are well optimized. But I like to know that can I play the game with this PC or not?

CPU: Core 2 Duo e7300 2.66Ghz

GPU: Radeon HD 5770 1GB

RAM: 4GB 1600

I'm currently playing the game on high settings and about 50-60 FPS.

So, can I play the HD maps with good FPS on this PC?

Thabks.

limited download speeds, Core 2 Duo with 4GB ram...

not much to work with.  You might find it harder in the future when the HD maps come around.  Your PC will be overwhelmed with the detail in HD.  You can always try to run things just keep in mind that your rig is old and far behind the tech of today...

The rumours about needing a higher spec PC turned out to be rubbish.

I get the same or better frame rates on both my systems.  The one I use standard render on is better on the sandbox but you don't get any improvement in visuals.

If you're able to run the game on high with 60 FPS you will be able to run HD maps as well.

yep should work but I would turn the graphics down a bit to get more frames

Sorry OP, no game rigging allowed for you, that is WG's prerogative.

Worst-case a round of texture compression will fix most FPS issues if your graphic card/disk speed is a problem. 50% compression is "hardly noticeable", and you can turn up the fancy stuff a bit. Maybe.

HD maps barely influence fps, or at least they don’t on my laptop and pc

Well going by most tests so far, most seems to think the new engine will work better, or the same for most.  As some tests on low end systems have given FPS boosts of 5-6 fps. But the specs I did see tests off had a 6 core with 8 gb of mem,  and a 1gb 830 mhz GPU.

I'll see if I can find the site that did the tests on different systems.

Got an increase of 15ish fps with vsync off peaking at 125 - low / high 80 to 120 frames usually 100-120fps. It works so well i don't even notice screen tearing which is really disturbing for me.
