Got a question:

Why can things that negatively impact Wargaming be hotfixed in under 4 hours but when a fundamental part of the game: The chat, Friend-list and platoon system doesn't work it can just remain for a full day?

Seriously, this is a big issue, why is it not addressed immediately?

If a tank accidentally made gold instead of credits it would be patched in 30 minutes flat.

Friends list have been an issue on NA for over a year.... So I don't expect this to get fixed soon. Then again... if it's an easy fix... they still need to test it to make sure it don't causes more issues. So it's not a fix you do in 4 hours.

You can Chat and Play with other Players easily. Just Create a Private Channel, then tell your friend the Name and Password, after that just right click on him and select as example "Create Platoon"

greetings, Marklin.

This^^

It's more like a makeshift solution but still works.

I've been able to platoon via forumites channel. So it is a viable option! :)

If they can break it in a couple of hours they can fix it in a couple of hours, that is if they wanted to! :teethhappy:

That is a good one, I was going into a tier 3 battle with 3 friends clicking "battle" at the same time, hoping we would end up in the same match, took us 1 try to get 2 in one team, 15 tries to get all 3 in one team :sceptic:

I'll use the private channel thing tomorrow.

It maybe an option but its an option that we should not have to go through.

We don't want a makeshift system, there are players that pay hard earned cash to play this game.

The game has got a chat system that does not work and needs to be fixed.

WG should get the job done correctly and not expect us to do their job for them.

That's for sure! But meanwhile, we have to keep the team play part of the game up!

Never play on patchday.

I did because Type 59 can actually hit something now.

It actually broke the day before the patch ever hit for me. I think it's an internal server thing for them.

Because co-operation, teamplay and social stuff is not important in an MMO.

Yeah I wanted to test both the Type59 and the new improved platoon MM. It did seem to be a bit better in terms of MM but still not great.

NA has had this issue for a while now so it's not caused by the patch.

Well, always sounds so easy, but there is usually a little bit of work involved:

- first they have to be aware of the issue (check, issue was confirmed by WG staff yesterday)

- then they have to figure out why/how it is broken. This isn't always as trivial as you may think. The chat server already had issues the day before the patch, so the issue may or may not be related to the changes.

- once you know what is causing the issue you can come up with a solution plan, which then needs to be implemented and tested. Solutions also aren't always as obvious as one might think, often one has to pick between alternative options with different (dis)advantages.

- finally you have to deploy the solution

A hotfix is only viable if the cause of a problem is pretty obvious, the solution straightforward and the deployment doesn't require extra migration steps.

Trust me, I know how this stuff works. I've done software testing before myself and it's tedious annoying work.

*HOWEVER* Why was this patch released with this major bug in it in the first place and how did this not get picked up in testing in the first place!

This is not a minor issue, it's a completely broken multiplayer functionality in a multiplayer game.

Same as all these broken hitboxes we get all the time, surely the Wargaming modellers are competent enough to double check their work before putting it up for release (I am a VFX artist myself and you never publish anything without making sure it works).

This downright incompetence and reluctance to properly test stuff before releasing is not something that should happen to a AAA company, this is something for indie developers working on their first game.

yep... micropatch announced.
Are we surprised... not really.

I am not one of those that was annoyed because servers were late up yesterday. Or because we have those problems an bugs in current version, etc.

no chat, friendlist, advances, etc.

But this is really lame, i need to say.

You should be serious company. This is not 1st or 2nd year of this game.

Patchnotes:

Block Quote

Patchnotes:
* Fixed some technical issues.

*Fixed an issue with badly displayed badges, gained during the second beta of ranked battles.

During maintenance, World of Tanks servers may become unavailable, however you should still be able to login and play.

Let's hope that is indeed the fix for the chat system, I love how they don't name it but do name a completely irrelevant problem with badges :teethhappy:
