You can speed things up by not playing anymore. Are you doing your part?

Even if they keep doing major screwups it will take some time when the game actually dies.

Look at the WoWP. It was arguably dead not much after it was released, yet it was there for many years and is still there. It will take some time when WoT actually dies, and then the game will exist for quite a some time.

Oh, yes. Inertia is a thing. Such a great lumbering beast as WoT will not die quickly. It will take time.

Just wait for it. If I look through the forum posts 90% are complaining topics. And I think all the problems with WOT are reaching a critical level as this point. Just look at the last update soooooo many bugs and no one from WG is responding. Its kinda funny in some way.

Meh. That was always the case. Loads upon loads of complaints.

and until there is competition for the demographic that plays WoT it won't die.

I actually think that WoT can die without direct competition. In my gaming years I have seen deaths of entire genres (including some of my favourites) for which consoles are clearly to blame.

Console crapwas never a direct competition to space combat sims, and yet, that genre pretty much died with the turn of the century. Similar case with RTSes. Both genres went extinct through competition which isn't direct, but directed publishing executives to focus on multi-platform or console-friendly genres, which in turn, pushed space combat sims/RTSes to the edge and effectively killed them.

I think that WG going in wrong direction, might be able to kill WoT with AW and others as dead as they are now.

Either way, whatever happens, demise of WoT will take ages.

2-3 years with the direction they are taking now:

-Overbuffing armour

-Making premium ammo compulsory

-Trying to drain your credits as soon as possible

-Releasing overpowered premium tanks

Cobra 6

Pretty much why I quit. However, even alienating a lot of players doesn't mean death of game, there are whale-hunting games which somehow survive while being orders of magnitude more P2W ridden than WoT. Sure, those games have much smaller teams behind them, but with sheer size of WoT player base, I actually suspect that full on whale-hunting mode might be sustainable for a while. Especially if they manage to sic whales on each other (to outspend each other) to mitigate decline in other players, who in whale-hunting games exist only as fodder to feed whale's ego.

Everything and everyone is gonna die, sooner or later. Me, you, WoT even our Sun is dying.

Not everyone. As a force of nature, I am eternal. As long as single mass-possessing particle exists, I will exist too. Perhaps weak, insignificant, crippled, but I will exist until all particles decay and until the very heat death of universe. By the time I die, existence itself will become meaningless, at which point, perhaps, a new universe will be born for me to thrive again in endless cycle...

Ok, and without pretentious writing, I'm just making a joke based on fact that my nick is based on a name of one of forces of nature (side effect of gravitation), and those are notoriously hard to kill.

in 2150 WG goes back to making tetris where you get the parts you need for gold. Tetris is ruined. Civilization falls in chaos. Speaking of Civilization, Civilization IV still remains the best in the series until the end of time.

You need to be nerve stapled for that, you drone! The best Civilization is Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri! Civilization IV is a not-very-close second, while all other instalments together occupy distant last place. Beyond Earth is so bad that it broke the scale and therefore doesn't exist.

Yes but it is like the lottery, people still keep playing the lottery because there's a hope, even a slim hope that they'll win or in regards to WoT that the game will one day get better. I mean it's still in beta ffs.

OP, are you like 14-15? If not, it shouldn't be hard to answer your own question. Just look at World of Warcraft... outdated graphics and plenty of other problems - people keep playing.

hey 15 year olds are plenty smart

I'm still playing Ultima Online from time to time and the game is still supported and well alive.

It came out in 1997...

Since you have changed this poll, earlier votes are now invalid. I seem to remember the previous maximum was only four years.

Hipster. Graphics bruh. Plus, no Earth means no romanticism of humanity, Civ IV shall prevail. Baba Yetu, Leonard Nimoy, animated winning scenes. Best discovery quotes.

Some things in the game are broken. For example Type 5 . That is a fact. It is bad for the game. Doesnt matter what other people think. It is a fact.

You have a very poor understanding of human nature, very poor. How do you think people get through an average day without making compromises, accepting things that aren't perfect? So some things in a game aren't perfect, but maybe you are the sort of person who would also claim unfair advantage if the sun is momentarily in your eyes in a game of tennis, life is unfair to you, you are a victim, you make yourself a victim, so grow up before it's too late.

WOT is not the only thing keeping WG up anymore like it was 4-5 years ago, as WG has grown into several smaller companies making their own money. So it's not like WOT needs to well to keep going, I mean WOWP was on life support for 2 years with 3K players at peak hours, and still they decided to give it a massive update. And WOT has grown to console and mobile even. So combined, it's still strong enough vs most f2p games. And one of the strongest if we go by age. And I suspect they will keep going well past their 10th anniversary. Like WOW did, even tho they are closing on 15 and still going fairly strong, even tho Blizzard has not shared population numbers in years. And they have even more whines then we do. Like those asking for a vanilla WOT server.

RU peak hours is still 5x more then we ever had. It's safe to say they can still run for longer, even when EU is as bad as NA is now. Will WOT live to see a 10 year anniversary? Yes. But 15? That's remains to be seen. As by then something bigger might have come along to change the scenery for all we know, and WOT died over night for the new thing. But I'm fairly sure it will go on for at least 5 more years.

IMO the big question is not if the game will be here in 5 or 10 years time. It's how far the NA server will go before WG pulls the plug. That might give you an idea how bad it has to be for EU later before it dies.

I've never played Civ Alpha Centauri nor Civ IV, but I do own Civ V with all of it's DLC and it's pretty awesome. It's worth every penny I've spent on that game.

You've discovered Pottery.

this game "died" so many times already  for sure when WT and AW came out

how many games were there to kill wow ? its still around

in the next time it will be winter and players will come back

the HD maps will draw in players that left again (some should even stay after a certain period)

so in short terms i can only see raising player numbers

if you extrapolate the player count over the last years  wg should be fine for another 10 years

than again there might be design decissions that finish the game off in a rather short time as sony did with swg

so if everything went wrong  i think it would even stay around perhaps another year

thought being a bit pissed and/or complaining from time to time   wouldnt really qualify as  "doing everything wrong"

Well if this game does die one day then I think it will be blessing for me as it takes up to much of my life already, but until then I will keep motoring on like a bot.

I'd say screwing up tier 8 matchmaking is very bad for the game. I've never had such bad times playing the most played tier.

So... in 5/10 years time and someone Necro's this thread....   how will this actually count, what does it mean?   is this some sort of schodingers cat type thing.  and then will this game be dead, when, in 30 years time all these 15 yr old players get to their mid-life crisis and say "They don't make them like they used to"  and they play this on their onboard computer chips in their head under the retrogaming section. and the 80 yr olds like me will say "they don't make it like they used to" whilst I play space invaders in my chip in my head.  Next to the chip that holds my memories of today...

and more importantly,  will I, at 80, be able to make it to the toilet in time....
