Hi all,

I tried the Halloween special last night, PvE PvP, fun, made stacks of credits BUT when it came to the PvP I was complete and utter crap in most battles and had my backside served. I seemed to bounce shots off tanks sides and what I'd have considered traditional weak spots while I got wrecked by every shot that hit me even though I was side-scraping what I thought would be effective with both tanks lol.

Can you guys kindly share with me

1. Franken weak spots and tactics to best use it. hull down, side scrape, something else?

2. Steins weak spots and tactics to best use it. hull down, side scrap, something else?

3. Best tactics for that map starting (a)north side and (b) south side

I know some of you guys have figured out the "go to" places of this map by now and how to play both tanks.

I played a few games yesterday & no one seemed to be taking it that seriously.  Hunting in packs seemed to be the winning tactic of the day with much yolo.

From what I have seen in PvP, I would say:

  1. Front armor is not strong enough to bounce anything, but peeking makes it easy to use both cannons so you can out-trade Steins this way. Side scraping works if you can bait them with you side armor, but your turret is a 50/50 pen.
  2. Front armor is good enough for peeking if you angle it to get some bounces, works better hull-down but it's much harder to use your dpm effectivly. The rear turret is mostly useless in PvP unless you are pushing in with you team and just zerging them, but that sort of teamwork is rare.
  3. I go mostly middle or on the north-west side of the buildings no matter which side I spawn on, seems to work fine most of the time.

Really? I thought it was aim bots that lead your target for you that was banned, while mods that makes it easier to lock-on to tanks is allowed.

Both are forbidden now. Mods like AutoAim+ USED to be okay but since the fair play policy that has changed

On both tanks just aim at cheeks of the turrets or sides of the hull when they overangle. Also, sidescraping in Franken and reverse sidescraping in Stein seems to produce good results.

huh, I didn't know that. Good thing I'm too lazy to install mods anyway :)

The original auto aim seems to work horribly with the multi turret tanks, so there is no loss i guess.

I was wondering why it was showing my French crews in barracks as an option lol.

Also yes autoaim + has been banned for quite a few months now, although tbh I think they should just adopt its watered down brother into the game client.

They made a version where it doesn't snap to the target it just gives you like 5 seconds after you right click to manually move your mouse over the target as you would with a normal auto-aim, it removes the frustration of hammering the button 3-4 times while you are over the target on the move because the game client says no the first 3 times.

By the way, AutoAim+ as far as I know is legit now. It's auto snap feature has been removed and what it does now is turning the autoaim on for a specified time and locks onto the enemy once the player rests the crosshair on the enemy outline. The same effect as spamming the auto aim hotkey while trying to point at the enemy. Not much of an advantage any more, really.

At least not a particularly unfair one, though it still allows for more focus on driving. I use it mostly because it allows the 'snap' functionality on the 'T' key, i.e. you can mark enemies that are behind buildings or whatever (like you could with autoaim in the illegal version). No real gameplay advantage, but really helpful in organized play to give your FC more time to yell at the team,  employ advanced tactics,  motivate the team and drink beer.

That's interesting.  I'm sure I saw a replay recently with someone still using the old auto snap feature that allowed a lock when the target wasn't highlighted.

That's interesting. It's probably useless in random battles though.

I was referring to the official version. I believe one could modify the config files to restore the forbidden functionality, or have kept the old mod and made it working with the current version of the client.

Edit:

Oh, btw, I've read somewhere that the mentioned AutoAim+ messes up with the Halloween mode, disabling the ability to fire the secondary turret.

Your aiming point is green for pen, red for bounce.

With the current level of play that's all you need to know.

Yes, and hardly cheating - it's mostly to keep the FC a bit more focused (and keep him happy enough to keep commanding).

No doubt you can modify the files if you want. The 'T' key works the same as autoaim, if you know a tiny bit about simple parameters it's easy to do it yourself, or find someone who's done it already, despite people denying that. I haven't "dared" use it myself, though, cheats aren't much fun in the long run.

Not the only mod that messes up the Halloween mode - I have to run it in safe mode.
