Hey!

I just bought the Strv S1 and so far I like it, however compared to the UDES it's just way too slow.

In accordance with the WG practice it has to be gimped somewhere compared to a top-specked vehicle of the same tier.

It is slower and less invisible. All else is great.

I love it.

Due to its increased resilience, against any caliber below 91mm, it acts as a balancing factor. Also it is faster in siege mode and can exit siege mode faster. These advantages outweigh the disadvantage of speed in my opinion.

You can actually bounce in S1. UDES not so much.

Probably because of those additional 10mm of armor that stop you from getting auto penned by almost every tank you can meet. They should be swapped, S1 has a lot closer playstyle to the STRVs than UDES.

If only the speed and power/weight ratio of both tanks was listed somewhere, such as in the game client where it could be accessed with a simple click of the mouse and reviewed before purchase. Damn you, WG, when will you give us such basic information?!

The UDES 03 somewhat spoils you for the other tanks having real gun elevation makes it a lot easier to drive around fast and still shoot enemies without using the x key to change to siege mode.

Strv S1 much slower but at least armour and transitioning between modes is better.

.....also has one of the highest penetration with both tier 8 swedish TDs on par leading the list. Still pretty good speed despite having "only" 50kph and top 2 in reverse speed....top 4 in shell velocity...top 3 in camo in all modes....you name it.

It isn't a premium UDES but when you get to the tier IX you will hopefully have learned the slightly different approach you need to take,  as that tank is more similar in playstyle to the S1.

UDES and S1 are kind of same tank with different flavor. UDES is stealthier, faster and has better accuracy, on the other hand S1 has way better armor, way better siege mode and better gun dispersion. When it comes to mobility and accuracy S1 is basically identical to Skorpion G.

As someone with a few matches (300+) in the Strv S1, I can tell you not to compare it to the UDES or anything previous.

The STRV S1 actually has way more in common with the STRV 103-0 and the STRV 103-B (go figures :p ). In fact the S1 and the 103-B almost have the same gun (except for a slight penetration bonus that comes with having the TX).

Also, the UDES is the quickest Swedish TD. The STRV 103-B also "only" has 50kp/h.

Saying the S1 is "way too slow" compared to the UDES though... do you mean normal moving speed or some other speed?

50kph is okay, I felt the need for reaching it faster, but now that I have it for more time it's actually pretty okay, I love this tank, more than the Scorpion G.
