Considering that this was the first time that a special mode really screwed up the main server, the rage may be exaggerated, but still.

I think that WG should make the special modes in the Test Server framework.  It would be much more interesting I think, since it would bring all clusters together, and would guarantee that what happened with the current special mode won't re-occur on the live server.

NA has tankrewards.com framework in order to award players with shiny gifts.  It should not be difficult for WG to award that gifts given for special modes to each player in their respective cluster.

Plus, if they bork it again, at least it will be the test server being borked, and not the live server, where people have friggin boosts active that go to hell.

Thoughts?

Yay?

Nay?

As far as I can tell the second question is, "would you prefer special modes to run on a separate server?" so regardless of where you are, you'd log in to the same server as everyone else. This would work on the same principle as the test server.

Good luck trying to play chaffee racing with 400 ping because the special mode server is two continents away.

This is silly, test server is for testing purpose only. They just need to be more carefull in the future.

The meaning of the 2nd question was that the special modes should be on the Test Server.

Does anyone in EU cluster have ping issues on Test Server?

The main point is - surprise. I would prefer not to testing special modes because they must surprise me and give me much fun. There is a risk that after playing on test server I will not want to play on main servers. Special modes are always good for me but everybody has own limits and too much play on special modes may be bored.

I like the special modes, as long as they don't have such an impact on the server as it did now. As long as there is something to win, I will be there. If there are people willing to play together the game modes are guaranteed fun as well!

I think the special modes should be played on a separate server. The reason is simple: as far as I know, the test server is not running while having a special with such an impact running in the game. This means there is free space to have it running there.

This is not the first time the servers have trouble with the amount of people. This has been several times before in the past, and I expect that they would have learned from this. 4k people in the que on EU1, 3k on EU2 and no one getting in, because they got kicked after 5 mins in the que.

This is my point.

The Test Server exists, it is stable with tens and sometimes hundreds of thousands of players online.  It does not impact players that run boosts or clan boosts that suddenly have the server crash.  It would also make the mode more interesting due to all clusters playing on the same server.
