If you buy a VIP ticket for WG Fest 2017 it comes with a special code that will grant a special item in one WG game. The code gives the Loza in World of Tanks. It seems to suggest that the tank comes with a special commander and "will not be sold again" (Mutant cough). Of course that does not mean it cannot be a reward for a marathon or competition in future.

But if you go to tanksgg and compare the Loza, Easy8, and Fury. The Loza is pretty much a standard Easy8 almost exactly the same stats as the tech tree one. Except the tech tree one has 234 engine health and the Loza has only 176. A destroyed engine has a chance of starting a fire in a tank. But the Loza has only a 15% chance of a fire compared to the tech tree Easy8 (and Fury) chance of 20%. But the reduction in engine health is 25%.

Did the Russians have a view that Shermans had their engines knocked out easily during WWII? Have WG tried to model this into the Loza?

Ha - I suggested a Russian Sherman yonks ago so I guess they do listen to the forums.

Early Shermans were criticised for catching fire easily but I think they eradicated it in later models (or so the interweb suggests). The Russians did find the interiors a blessing though after the spartan T34 innards

Oh look at that, another reskin of an existing tank sold for real money instead of an original vehicle.

What a surprise!

Soon we'll not only have legions of IS clones but also legions of Sherman clones, what a lovely thought and direction to head in.

What do you mean "soon have legions of Sherman clones"? We already do!

According to tanks gg the following Sherman based tanks are already in the game:

M4 Sherman

M4 Improved (it really isn't)

M4A2E4 Sherman

M4A3E8 Sherman

M4A3E8 Fury

M4A3E8 Thunderbolt

M4A3E2 Jumbo

M4A1 Revalorisé

So that is 8 Shermans not including the RU reskin.

Would love a German Sherman with an 88 mm gun.

Is the M4A2E4 the firefly? Because if it is not, we have 9 sherman clones...

No, the ingame Firefly is an M4 composite (part cast, part welded)

Also, Sherman III is the British designation for the M4A2

Glad you guys thought of those 2, otherwise there clearly wouldn't have been enough shermans.

I'm still waiting for the tier x sherman myself.

That would be an M-51, but WG already put that ingame as the M4A1 Revalorisé.

No.

The Loza and the regular E8 do not have the same engines. The Loza, like many other pieces of lend-lease equipment, had diesel engines. Soviet supply chain and winter needs. The in-game T5 Sherman M4A2E4 has the same engine and the same engine HP. Sherman III does too. It's not a matter of Soviet views.

Whether it actually was less durable/reliable is hard to tell, but it's not that unlikely that a twin-engine setup would be more complex and more prone to causing trouble if hit (engine syncing and whatnot). Radials might be more durable - but are above all air-cooled engines. Simple and reliable; there's a reason they were used in aircraft (large frontal area means easy cooling too). Ever owned a VW Beetle?

Jokes aside, it's probably a balancing aspect. The V2 diesels have higher HP too, for whatever reason.

Got me there, I totally forgot about the UK Shermans .

Actually that makes it 10 Shermans as we have both the Firefly and the tier 5 Sherman III to add.

Variants, not clones...at least not all of them if you want to be nitpicking. Fury and Thunderbolt can be considered clones since they are basically premium versions of tech tree tanks.

I'm surprised they didn't give it the 75mm gun...probably because it's russian. Then again we are lucky they didn't give it a 85mm gun either because they couldn't find an excuse to add it did not ( yet ) find a variant of it in the russian archives.
