Hey guys,

since I got much and more gold from clanwars I decided to buy myself the WZ-120-1 FT. I was honestly quit surprised that this tank was added as quickly after the initial release. It seemed rather strong.

Well I bought it "the other day" and played it A LOT. It basically became instantly my most favorite tank since it not only can stand its ground against tier 9 but also against tier 10. All this coming from someone who hardly ever plays turretless TDs.

However this TD is more like a medium, and quit frankly hell of OP.

Just if you are looking for a good tier 8, even when considering the current MM, I would strongly suggest this tank. It is powerfull regardless of matchup.

Yeah, I've liked the WZ as well since trading in for it. That's what assault guns should be like.

Awful aiming time and abysmal acceleration, no deal.

I'm grinding the SU-122-54 and I get a little jelly when I see one. Sure I got a one tier higher stamp on my machine, but he's got armour on his.

Gotta have a drawback from that amazing sloped armor and godlike DPM with 440 alpha. id say it moves quite nice for a TD. turns ON A DIME too.

I quite like it as well. Sure the gun is pretty derpy and sniping is more about luck than anything else but at least it has enough strong points to offset its pretty much only weakness.

Armor is good, with the use of gun dep it can withstand even T10 guns, mobility is good enough, camo is great, dpm is good too and pen is high enough.

The best thing though is the traverse speed. You can really surprise a lot of medium or even light tanks who think you are an easy picking once flanked because you got no turret.

Except it doesn't have potato pen on both rounds.

It's an annoying POS to play against, if you're in a T8, chances are you can't pen it with standard and sometimes even gold ammo, but you bet your arse it'll pen you...

I totally agree with OP, I really like playing it even if it sees lots of tier X. I even did the td mission for the 260 where you have to do 5x your own hp in damage with it. Its camo is really good and with that reload you can afford to miss a shot so I snapshot on closer ranges if needed.

It is from old version but as proof:  http://wotreplays.eu/site/3883833#overlord-panzerzap-wz-120-1g_ft

ouh well , you slap a monkey long enough he'll get used to the slapping. we can't even complain anymore as they release more and more OP tanks , the wz is indeed very good , and very good is bellitling how good the tank actually is...  just like an Su12244 meeting tier 6s and 5s , this thing can bully even its own tier. Luckily ive only died to them few times since i tend to avoid them as much as possible.

Yeah, making a turretless TD with enough hull traverse to prevent it from ever getting outflanked wasn't WG's smartest move ever, but if one statement can classify the last 1,5 years of WG's development, that would be it.

Yeah it seems quite tempting, though I probably wait until the Skorpion G returns (which probably happens soon anyway), just because even more alpha + turret, and the fact that a good German TD crew could be way more useful than a good Chinese TD crew for me, as I don't have that much interest in playing the Chinese TDs.

I would probably trade the T28 HTC for it when next trade-in arrives. It would effectively only cost 6.7k gold which would be insanely good deal for a tier 8 that is competitive in tier 10 matches.

Sadly I've never been able to make turretless TD's to work for me. Then again, I'm sure someone will quickly point out that neither have I been able to make any of the other tanks to work for me either... :hiding:

Well thats the other option true. However I guess that with my playstyle I am more successfull in the WZ than in the Scorpion. If you like agressive "in your face" playstyles then this is the go to tank:

It has the armor to bounce stuff. Yes the armor is not noobproof but becomes really strong if used the right way.

The mobility combined with its camo and insane viewrange allow it to act like a better scout than most tier 8 lights out there. However the gun would be wasted if only used as a scout.

The gun. Derpy that is true. On range 100+ meters you wont hit anything without fully aiming which can be annoying at times. However 2 workarounds are available: Dont snipe, or fully aim.

Overall that one weakness of the tank I was able to indentify is not enough of a weakness to make the tank balanced. It is OP. So yeah it was and is the first clearly OP tank you can by via gold from the techtree.

An interesting move by Wargaming.

Well MT mobility is the big thing I like in JagdPanther2. Such a shame that mobile high tier TDs are almost close to nothing. This is what I miss with french TDs, as I was hoping more a JP2 mobility trend for tierX.

For this WZ the only downside I see is the chinese crew. For me, I have zero interest in chinese TDs.

I'd love to get it, except that means giving WG my small amount of money I still own

Type64 is now OP too. Lowe is also really strong though it's not as easy to play.
