So, after grinding with the A-44, a tank which most people claim is total garbage, I finally unlocked the Obj416, which is a tank I have been after for a while.

My question is, how the hell am I meant to use this tank? A lot of people claim it is one of the best non-prem medium TVIII at the moment, yet because of MM, I can't seem to do jack squat with it.

I currently have a 15% win rate with this tank, which boils down to about 20 games played, 15 or so of them being TX games (which were all losses - go figure) and 5 of them being TVI/TVII games (which were the wins).

The first 5 or 6 games, I didn't even get a shot off, before being blown up by a platoon of FV4005 or 113s - screenshots available for proof if needed.

So, how do you guys do well in this tank with the current MM?

Did you grind out free experience with other tanks beforehand, in order to avoid playing the OBJ416 as stock, or did you somehow get lucky playing this thing as stock?

I just need advice, because right now I am so peeved with getting one shot by top-tiers after barely leaving spawn, that I'm thinking of going back down to my A-44 and stopping there.

Play it as a fast TD, be sneaky and don't go 1v1. And a fun fact for you:

Average credit balance after playing Obj 416 is about -11k per battle, making it the second worst tier 8 vehicle by credit earnings.

Don't get spotted. You have something like 4th best cammo in the game. It's a mix of med and TD gameplay.

If you are getting blown by enemy tanks before doing a point of damage you are going to the wrong places and are too agressive. Even in a t10 tank you would be dead if you made the same plays.

Yeah, basically play it like a half blooded TD. You gun and your camo are good, so stay at range and play the view range game. If your crew is not that great you can bring binos with you for. When engaging enemy mediums head on, remember that both your alpha and dpm are pretty good and should be abused if possible. If cover is available, side scrap to only expose very little of your small silhouette when firing (make sure to poke fast enough to not get hit, dont expect to bounce anything). And use your mobility and stealth to get into ambush positions whenever possible. Avoid medium lanes if the force you into a hillfight, engage either at range or on flat terrain.

When bottom tier, there is no shame in hanging back a little and sniping from safety (unless you know how to set up good passive scout spots, then do that). Don´t forget that your gold ammo is good enough to put a hole in everything you can face.

As a light-td-medium hybrid.

It is a beautiful tank.

But it is still a tier 8 tank.

The second bad news: it is definitely not a beginner tank.

Load lots of skill ammo and sit with the TDs.

You're a new player, so before you buy a tank watch some vids on Youtube.

Alright, thanks all!

I was sort-of expecting the tank to have the same playstyle as the A-44 which can be a brawler and can be used in up-close and tight situations.

Now I know that I need to hold back and snipe for a while before potentially scouting and picking-off stragglers; funnily enough, it's supposedly the same playstyle as the AMX CDC then (or how it was marketed to be played :p )

Problem is you rushed tiers without even getting average results in your tanks...that's not how you learn to play any tank.

Just don't camp redline like some retard TD players who think HURR DURR FORUM SAID SNIPE I MUST WAIT FOR TEAM TO DIE. Follow the frontline from a positon you know you wont be spotted or one where you know you can hide between shots and get unspotted.

First off, the A-44 is fine. You just have to learn how to play it. Second, how to play the Obj 416? The same way you should have played the A-44.

This is the stupidest thing I have seen in the pub forum in a long time. A44 has armor, obj416 has none. A44 has shitty gun handling obj416 has great gun handling. Those tanks are played very differently. A44 is a top tier bully, obj is a snapshoting support tank that abuses vision and gun handling.

Well we don't know how they will go about it yet. So he might get to keep it, or they will do an FV4202 like event for it's owners or just simply take it. We have no idea atm. As if they do take it away, I suspect the pitchforks and torches will go up. As many inc me, think this is the only good non premium tier 8 medium tank.

Yes and no, but not really. 416 needs to be more passive early to mid game vs the 44. As the 44 has a full 360 turret. 416 don't. 416 is a pure sniper, 44 is not. 416 has one of the best camo values when firing. 44 does not. I would not even compare the two in styles. Not even play it the same as the 44. 416 is more a TD then a medium vs the 44 even tbh.

Welcome to top tiers, where you need to re-learn how to play WoT. Unfortunately I'm not joking.
