I'm thinking of maybe starting this line. Seen a lot of streamers playing it couple of months ago. Looked like a decent tank, but I'm kinda hesitating because of that 200mm gun mantlet and inability to sidescrape properly.

What's your experience with it? And is it worth the grind in general?

seen a lot of big games by players in this tank, and that mantlet seems much better than its numbers, I rarely pen it, but that might be me doing a bot impression

There are better tier 10 superheavies. Tier 9 however is still very good and fun to play.

tier VI = vk36.01(H) - not as good as the pre-nerf medium but still decent.

tier VII = Tiger (P) - slightly frustrating (gun issues) but can be made to work for better players like you.

tier VIII = vk45.02(P) Ausf. A - does not really fit the line, but actually rather good.

tier IX = vk45.02(P) Ausf. B - a very useful and good heavy at this tier. Enjoyable grind for a heavy.

I do not yet have the tier X, but the line is better than many to grind, and does not have any really weak for tier vehicles in it

I've seen Orzy play it quite a few times, have massive games but consistently moan about how crap it is.

Personally not played it but I can never seem to hit the gun mantlet weakspots. The weakspot under the turret is a lot easier when it sidescrapes, but when it just points its front at you the lower plate is 270 effective so unless you go hunting for those mantlet weaker areas (which seem to have 500 effective areas next to it) then you basically have to spam HEAT at the lower plate.

On first test the gun was really nice but they heavily nerfed it. It's still ok though for 560 alpha, you have decent handling, high penm, good AP shell velocity as well.

I saw Daki played it, rekt everybody in sight because superheavies are very balanced right now. He had like 4.2k dpg in it.

If you enjoy the playstyle you might enjoy the tank.

When I play it, almost everyone can hit my mantlet weakspot. When I play against it, damn RNG moves my shots away from the target.

I am enjoying it, but I can also confirm it is a crap tank. :) Weird, I know. :)

Basically it's not used in CW's so unless you enjoy playing it in randoms there is no point to actively grind this line.

Tier 9 is the BEST of the line imo. Am grinding to PZ but am not thinking about buying it just yet.

bought pz7 despite all the bad reviews, played only 4 battles in it, so its hard to tell how it will  turn out after 100 battles, but in those 4 battles it performed quite well for a super heavy. In 2 of them was top tier, another 2 was full tier 10 battles, avg dmg blocked - 3k per battle. What i really liked about it so far - the snapshot capability of the gun + dat amazing shell velocity on AP shell.

Thing it's a super heavy, it's like Battleships in WOWs, even bad ones are still very strong.

Based on the WR curve, most players above 50% slightly overperform in it.

According to vbaddict, it's actually second bounciest high-tier heavy in the game, after Maus. It even bounces more than the Derp-5 Heavy and VK100.01.

There is a reason why Ozy is one of the top players on the EU server, so regardless of you like his style on twitch or not, he can massively out proform in any tank compared to regular plebs, So I would be very careful taking those super duper uniscrubs advice on what tanks to grind or conclude if a tank is good based on their play style.

As for the Pz 7, I have hard time recommending it over something like a mouse if its armor you are looking for, and gun handling the Pz 7 cant compete with the mouse either. Its dosnt have a derp gun, so if you are looking for that, then you need an E-100. And you cant side scrape in it, so the only unique quality the VK72 platform had over the other 2 super heavies was speed, and they nerfed that when they introduced the Pz 7. Which really pissed me of, so I basically haven't driven my VK72 more then a few times since the speed nerf.

Which I imagine is down to that lower plate, very similar to the old VKB in that you point the front round corners and bait shots into it, especially as it is a newer and less seen tank so most players won't be aware of the other weakspots. Lower plate is general weakspot known across all tanks and is very strong on the Pz VII, so most pubbies will just get drawn into shooting this.

Plus as I said trying to hit the gun mantlet weak areas is complete lottery, often areas like this that are troll create more bounces because people try to shoot at them and fail, whereas something like an IS7 or Kranvagn turret people just won't bother shooting at.

I mean personally I see a VK Pz. VII I'll load HEAT to shoot the lower plate, or I'll shoot the under turret weakspots if visible, most players won't do the former and probably don't know about the latter.

Yeah, its quite reliable way to pen the VK, actually. People just are afraid to do so because the VK's LFP used to resist even HEAT for quite a some time, and I feel like people still havent realized that they actually nerfed the LFP armor.

I have the VK 72.01 K which is basically the same tank, but with the E-100's 15cm gun. I quite like it ! But then again, I do have some odd tastes in my Heavies. I utterly disliked the M103 for example. The old IS-8 was also a tank which I just grinded thru and never bothered to keep it. I prefer the IS-4 over the IS-7. I don't have Super Heavies, but whenever I play them on a friend's account, I do exceptionally well in them. I loath the Japanese Heavies. I don't think the Super Conq is OP. I don't think the E5 is UP either. So yeah ... I'm very close to the PzKpfw VII and I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

VKB is not a very good tank. Currently it's worse than e75 at everything.

The PZVII is a strange tank. It's very good against noobs and meh against good players. So your performance depends more on your enemy than on you
