The most stupid thing in this game is armor pen. indicator! Why the [edited]you  even  make the weak spots on the tank??? Every single  person does not want to shoot when he is crosshair is  red, but he will shoot when he is green. So stupid, so arcade and does not require any knowledge of the tank weak spots!

Yeah, you totally don't need any knowledge about weakspots, it totally doesn't give you any advantage. You can simply wave your mouse around for a minute before every shot to find a place you might penetrate. That totally works.

Don`t you do it? It's like a friendly wave before you shoot.

Yeah, no knowledge required... Nevermind the indicator doesn't take into account armour angling or sloping whatsoever...:harp:

Didn't they change this recently to account armor angle in? Atleast I remember having a discussion about this with my clan mates.

It did before the last patch broke part of the pen indicator.

I don't think it works for HEAT ammo now, and it seems to be off for regular aswell. Currently I only shoot with orange coloured indictator and pens. Sometimes at Red and pens.

Yes. This feature worked for one patch, then they broke it somehow (still works kinda, but the indicators aren't always reliable now). So back to skill & knowledge for maximizing pen chances.

Huh, didn't even know this. I never look at the indicator anyway so I haven't really been paying attention to it anyway.. :child:

Probably because it's broken, but 'red' used to be around 10% chance to pen or something like that (which without the indicator taking angle into account usually meant "don't bother").

I've been using it for a while (not originally), if anything it may slow down your reactions because you keep an eye on the indicator color. If at least the red is a reliable indicator of a reduced chance to pen, it might help you save on ammo costs.

You don’t need penetration indicator or its colors.

All you need to know is the "Dingers color scale":

Most of the times its just better to shoot despite the color since you cant control RNG..

It's one of the options in the vanilla reticle. I think you can choose to have the center aiming dot to be solid colour, have reload indicator (changes colour when you are reloading) or have the armour penetration indicator where when you aim at enemy tanks the center dot goes from green through yellow to red depending on whether your penetration is more or less than the armour you're aiming at. Never used it, it's just there.

If you know where you need to shoot then the indicator is just a part of the reticle.

Sometimes I pen when the indicator is Red, sometimes I bounce when its green.

Sometimes I just fire anyway and pen.  See no issues with the indicator to be fair.
