So i got my new smart meter installed last week,

and every time i went to look at the remote the screen was black and it needed recharging,

so i called the energy company thinking i had got one with a dud battery and they said "it's working as intended"

what they don't tell you in all the advertising and sale's pitches and everything about it saving you money, is that you are supposed to keep it plugged in,

even though the adverts shown on television show you picking the remote up and moving it around and that, they don't tell you that the battery only lasts 3 hours and it's advised to keep it plugged in.

So just going to leave mine off the meter still sends the readings in automatically which is all i got it for really,

But if anyone else is thinking of getting one to see what you can turn off to save money you can start by turning off the remote that tells you how to save money.
