I suppose a British light tank line would be possible and I think they might even be planning it. If they wouldn't, they'd already release the British version of the Tetrarch as a tier II premium tank.

Or I guess they could go with the Harry Hopkins tank, which is kinda' similar.

Spoiler

And there are even some pretty good candidates as Great Britain exports some light tanks and they even broke the Guiness record for tank speed, which is 82KP/H.

What I'm curious about is if there's a possibility of a Japanese light tank line. Probably impossible without heavy fantasy from WG's side....

Spoiler
 But who knows?

Pls, no more light tanks. It is hard as it is to get that master engineer status. Having 2 more disfunctional tech trees....

British LT line is possible, but apparently there was some issues with WG and reaching some archives, so they are apparently postponed, but could be wrong.

Japanese LT line up to tier 10 without some dark magic of WG (aka a complete fakes at tier 9/10) is impossible, and even then it wouldn't be really unique and it would require using literal American clones at midtiers. We are lucky if we see a TD line for Japan (and no, they are not anyhow remotely like super-heavies...unless WG goes full retard mode), let alone a LT line.

I suppose making a real TD line would be more important as they know all the details.

But it could be an LT line like the current french Tier IX and X meds.

Tarix819 already posted a prospective UK light tank tech tree here;http://forum.worldof...h-tree/#topmost

I particularly like the fact that the Scorpion 90 or II is the tier X rather than the Scorpion I with the 75mm.

A branch connecting the Ke-Ho and STA-1 / Type 61 could work.

For the British, we could have a the FV301 and the Scorpion, but the Scorpion has a gun that would be useless in WoT. Other than that it would pure fantasy. Not that that has ever stopped WG before.

With mostly American clones or are there some unique Japanese LTs the game misses out on?

Scimitar too. Give it the 30mm RARDEN cannon and it could be interesting (they might have to fiddle with the pen values, not sure). As for the Scorp, just give it the 90mm gun proposed upgrade and problem sorted.

There are early light tank designs related to the STA-programme. Those designs eventually evolved into the STA-1, and while they are lights, they are closer to be mediums in terms of mobility and armament so it would be logical to them lead to MT line. I would put them at tier 6 and 7 or 7 and 8. I would buff the Ke-Ho and bump it to tier 5, while add a new LT at tier 4 (Ke-To, improved Ke-Ni variant).

American clones are not necessary, but similarly how STAs are similar to American MTs, the STA light tanks would be similar to American LTs.

Isn't it better to make the Ke-To an Xmas gift tank or similar and just remove the 57mm from the Ke-Ho (probably replacing it with a new 47mm with slightly better pen and better gunhandling) ?

That way the Ke-Ho becomes closer to its historical equalivent while similarly improving the game balance because currently the Ke-Ho is just filth. Not as good as the T67 I think, but awfully close.

No, I would bump the Ke-Ho to tier 5 because otherwise you would likely need to use the Chaffee at tier 5. The 57 IIRC is actually historically planned gun on the Ke-Ho. And like said the Ke-Ho is very well balanceable at tier 5.

No need for Ke-To to be a Xmas gift because you already have the Ke-Ni Otsu waiting in-game files.

Would the 57mm have enough pen at Tier V?

87mm with standard is awfully low when you suddenly meet Tier VII medium tanks and its premium ammo is stupidly expensive.

If it's 120-ish standard and 180-ish premium pen it could work tho, and probably a better engine because 14 HP/ton is ew.

Just looked the Ke-Ni Otsu up... oh god that thing looks to be garbage.

Can't penetrate a Matilda with premium ammo... ew.

The Ke-To I also can't really see working at Tier IV either, unless it gets an unhistorical gun of its own.

You can always do the "magic trick" and make the premium ammo standard and give it new premium ammo. Do that, buff gun handling, give it vstabs and slighty buff HP, and done, a fine tier 5. Its not even anything new, WG has done that on multiple Japanese guns already (10 cm Experimental gun on heavies and the 7.5 cm Type 5 on mediums).

Unhistorical gun upgrades are not a problem if the gun is at least somewhat logical (and the 57 mm is, because it was planned on many vehicles that carried 47 mm guns). Its not completely idiotic like 128 mm on E 75, so its perfectly fine.

57 mm wouldnt make it broken, just give it less DPM than the Ke-Ho. The idea of uptiering the Ke-Ho wasn't because of it being too good for a tier 4, though, but so that you would build an alternative branch of LTs without need of using complete clones.

Shouldn't be a problem to fiddle with pen. Leopard's 30mm has rather optimistic penetration values.

Question is how balanced it'd be in terms of ROF. You want some burst, but blasting away another LT in four seconds is probably a bit too much. This is more a balancing than ""realism"" issue, I bet.

Having commanded a Spartan (CVRT personnel carrier version of the Scorpion/scimitar for those who live under a rock) for two years I can confirm that it goes like s**t of a shovel and would be great fun if WOT could recreate the speed and acceleration of these tanks in a pixel tank. However, I would insist that it jerks massively at 12 Kph as the driver messes up the gear change from 2nd to 3rd resulting in a 60 second stun of the commander as his head smashes off the cupola!

True. The Ke-Ho with 131 mm standard pen would definately be workable at Tier V.

I don't really like the 'magic trick' but it would surely work.

Wasn't the Ke-To meant to carry only a 37mm gun?

I like this idea a lot. The game doesen't lack full-autos, but it DOES lack rapid-firing low-calibre cannons :justwait:
