Hello, I've been working hard towards this moment and considering the 5x xp boost for first win daily which will last for 3 days and considering I still have some xp boosts in my pocket, I am planning to unlock my first Tier X tank too since im only 38.014 XP away, plus I have some free XP left unassigned, it will be on 15% discount, so can afford it already obviously.

It will be 121, Chinese Medium tank, I know it may not be the best choice for a newcomer (though i play since 2013) but ive been playing with chinese tank line for long long time, also got unlocked but not purchased WZ-132 t8 light and purchased and progressing to t9, my HT 110. I want to know what is the optimal skillset for crew on 121 and which equipment should i pick for it, also what are the tactics for a tank like this? I have used the WoT comparison option and found out it is pretty different from other medium tanks up there at tier X,  especially when it comes to its low gun depression/elevation angles and significantly worse aim time, I heard some people complaining about "bloom" though I do not know how serious of a problem is that and how should I mitigrate it.

Here is my current setup of my WZ-120 T9, I'd like to know how I should change it, since this crew on it will move on to my upcoming 121, some of the equipment may too, ofc not med gun rammer but got a large one from T28 Prot, planning to demount it and place on 121:

I would say go with the same set op on the 121, some might trade the optics out with vents, but that up to personal preference.

equipment is good, as for the crew maybe repairs instead of camo on the driver and congrats on your first tier 10.

I thought camo is more important than repairs for most mediums?

Are you sure? I was using the vents earlier idk why i got myself optics, I am actively considering Gun Laying Drive instead of optics, considering abysmal aiming time in comparison to other meds.

Camo won't help when you are tracked :) first repairs then camo not the other way around, dictated by the way this game is played nowadays you will be very close to the enemy for camo to be effective which brings the other issue with the aiming time, if you are close enough that too is mitigated as you won't have to aim that much. I always felt the 121 to be in your face medium not a leopard which have to hide and snipe.

Oh joy, another player about to venture into tier X when in truth they shouldn't have gone past tier 6 until they actually had a clue what they were doing...

Can I suggest instead of buying the 121 and worrying about equipment/loadout, that instead you spend the credits on a selection of tier 6/7 vehicles, and then watch a bunch of videos on how not to be an xp pinata for the enemy team, you'll benefit from it far more in the long run, and also I won't have to worry about you being on my team in higher tier games in the process - win/win.

If I were you I would look at my performance in the WZ120 and realise it can probably only get worse. Yes the WZ120 isn't a great tank, but a tier X tank isn't a trophy or symbol of success, it can be a weight around your neck. If you want more fun in the game spread your wings into other tech trees and research mid-tier tanks.

Repair always over camo for both heavy tanks to medium tanks. Ad mentioned above mobility is far more important than not being spotted.

Camo first is on arty and the sniper td's (RHM etc). Assault td's (jagdtiger, object 263 etc)  get repair first.

Light tanks are dubious. I am more of an active scout and prefer repair over camo, so being tracked doesn't last as long. However a.mote passive scout player can benefit from camo first

My advice - don't do it.

You will be top tier all the time which in 3-5-7 battles means the team is relying on your second rate tank to perform.

Tier X is not the objective of the game and it can be a lot more frustration than fun.

Save your "free" exp and credits and grind some new lines.

Watch Quickybaby' review of it on YouTube.

Set it up the way he does.

Though I imagine it will be rammer,  vert stabs &  then either coated optics or vents, depending upon your crew skills.

Cheers

Rammer + Vstab + Optics for every single shot medium tank.

Vents + Vstab + Optics for every autoloader.

That's the basic gist, some change optics on the single shot medium for vents if it's a brawler, but generally having the viewrange is better than a slight increase in every skill.

I would like to thank everyone who took their time to reply so far (except the elitists who thought that only people worthy of T X and thus ranked battles, global map, grand battles and other very fun stuff and are unicums with 20k battles played, this is the reason I went forwards with T X, not to just continue random battles as usual). After reading through replies I decided to stick with my current equipment loadouts as pretty much everybody thought they were exactly like they should've been. 121 is doing alright however, playing it too often can take a toll on credits, since getting destroyed in it is much more expensive than on WZ-120 apparently, so I'll just keep it for the special stuff like the upcoming ranked battles season and current operation gambit, also sad that I do not have anywhere to train my crew on while not using it, since only applicable vehicle (T-34-3) is ridiculously overpriced, therefore I decided to focus on the other tech trees for the time being, primarily trying to get to t8 T69 American med autoloader for my nicely trained crew of T 25 Pilot 1, of which I recently became Ace Tanker of after assisting 8,320 damage in one match, also continuing my progress on American SPGs, currently T8, took up a new tech line of French SPGs, currently t4 with 2 female crew members already on board, going for 10, cause apparently being SPG in T10 is actually profitable, since they get destroyed by far the least often, so why not have 2 in the long term I said to myself? Also bought myself the WZ-132 T8 Chinese light, completed the LT-15 mission, thus unlocking StuG IV and unlocked whole set of new missions.

If anyone know any other tips or tricks, I'm always willing to hear them out, every little bit helps, thanks for the input so far guys!

I would change optics for ventilation as well and i would prefer repairs instead of cammo in WZ    121,  and i would carry 3-4 gold rounds and 4-6 HE shells! gold to make a heavy (or bully with a turret that has gone hull down ), back off a bit and reconsider staying exposed, and HE to decap and cripple lightly armoured tanks..but other than that u r ok (i think).
