So when will Erlenberg be reworked so you can move at middle of map. or move at all- since th river is locking down both teams=

like 2 years ago or so, there was a rework proposal by WG that had removed the river with more cover along it. It was canned as it made the map worse according to super testes. I can't be bothered to search FTR for it, as none of the new blogs will have it, as all 3 of them are not that old.

iirc they did the same with highway, adding a town going across the bridge even to split the map more. Even that made it worse. No idea how, but it was canned to.

They only need to remove the camperspots f.e. the one in the upper right corner among a few other things.
The main problem with all maps is players don't know how to respond to simple situations and that causes campfests and steamrolls.

It's mostly down to players not knowing what to do on this map.

Good old Derpenberg. No matter what you do, the map always ends up in a fight between one and the other side of the river, No matter which kind of match type is. Encounter, one teams goes to the side of the river their spawn is, the other does the same - camp fest for 10mins between the river. Assault/Defense, the defense team mostly goes west, only going 2 or 3 tanks to the castle - those 2 or 3 tanks die, the enemy push, camp around the cap circle and get feasted byt the A0 sniping lords. The enemies who decide to push east (also 2 or 3 or 4), usually get cleaned by the defense team that has 12 tanks on that side of the map.

I saw a few weeks ago somewhere about WG future "to-do-things" and Erlenberg, cof* sorry, Derpenberg* rework was "must-do".

My tactic for this map is quite effective;

YOLO center, sometimes it works and you have a nice game. If not, NEXT.

I like to have the assult and encounter modes on because I like the variety. However Erlenberg too often always makes me question this decision

The problem with this map is that most player don't know the meaning of intercept. Standard battle example:

You spawned south, so you know that most of the enemy team will be on the castle side. Why have you to go on the other sides instead intercept the enemy before it reach the camping position? From castle side you even got a better position on the enemy base!

But no, most of the player will go to camp on their side because if you fight you can get hit...

This map is still far superior to any and all corridor brawl maps, which sadly constitutes the majority of maps these days...

I'm with Alice. Great map compared to kharkov etc

I'm sure there was a thread on exactly the same topic last week...

Maps already been reworked twice the first one they changed a few things including moving the caps to opposite sides of the river, which improved things a bit it used to be impossible to cross the southern bridge from west to east without being slaughtered.

the second rework never made it past the testing stage.

My Swedish TDs love Derpenberg:)

Dunno if you have noticed under Improved Equipment there is now a portable sauna available, gives you 5% extra to crew skills but only available for T8 to 10 TDs.

There was another thread about this map that basically said "never cross the river on Erlenberg" it raised quite a good conversation, I found it good advice if everyone rotates back once your flank is cleared, and crosses the river past your own cap, to dig out the subsiquent camp.

it helped me a lot in t6 skirmishes (where 80% of enemies hard camp), often we have to rotate 3 or 4 times in cromwells.

The trouble with this in randoms is some will immediately cross the river and die unsupported, alot of the rest will fail to rotate back once the flank is clear, either pushing the wrong side or hard camping, the map needs some co-ordination, which is often lacking in randoms.

If my team is lucky enough to have a unicum who directs the push in chat, often it works really well, if anyone with my stats tries to direct anything nobody will listen anyway, just results in abuse so I don't bother, I just try to do my best with however the team deploys. <shurg>

You don't need a unicum to lead the way, you only need players who somewhat understand how important it it to push the castle side hard because if you give them half the map you give up 100% map control. Right flank is a campfest once they have won the hills if they don't end in a stalemate over them the moment the first tanks are spotted. Left flank at least gives you the ability to push fast under the sniper hill and have the enemy spread their fire if you encounter any. It also works the other way if you can deny the enemy to move along the west road under the hill.

You can play middle no problem.

The meta is a bit stupid in assault mod, but that will change. Good map.
