I think pushing the hill works more often than pushing the field.

Yes, yes, I know the centre is important for spotting.

Prok is won normally by the team with less bots who sit at the base.

This is why a suicide scout into the center will normally win you the game as your team will see the whole enemy team camping base.

As a rule one team is normally 4/5 tanks down within seconds.

It's usually won between hill and middle. Cooperation and spoting is key.

In USSR during the battle of Kursk. :)

Anyways, in my experience it depends on the mode and what the team does. Since the map is pretty open, its all comes down to better stop at the place with more guns on your team.

Good camping position at the base of the hill may win the battle.
Good push along side the water may win the battle.

Problems come when teammates are attacking one by one or in pairs and get whacked.

Middle is the key. From middle you can cover hill and provide targets for line 1 campers. Most of my most succesful battle went this way.

The team that camps the most have the best chance of winning.

Despite being hard to win, the 1-2-line/forest is the most strategically important, but the middle is still key to denying the hill to the enemy - it's a shooting gallery in almost every game, and dang-near impossible to do anything from.

The best way to win is pushing hill, but first support middle to lower their numbers, and let allies from the middle help cleaning up the hill. Then make the push and easy win.

Hill and middle are key. You have to take hill and deny the enemy shots at your teammates on top and vice versa. TD line is a pure campfest unless you have a good scout sitting in the E1 area ( either side ) and the enemy just yolos into your TDs hiding behind you provided they are not hiding far behind you on the red line.

You need to be present at all three major zones of the map and actively support the others. That's why it's - apart from a few flaws that still need to but never will get fixed - a very good map.

I think it's won near the red lines...

Magic bush on one side, hill on the other, and the 2 remaining red lines are used by arty of both sides, arty really decides a game on that map. so... 100% red lines.

hill and center wins prok 9 times out of ten

it also depends on how hard they camp on 1/2 line, sometimes it can be won if your camper team is full of TD and the enemy full of easy spotted heavys...

its game dependent by mostly won by hill and center

Agree that it really needs three zones supporting one another (which makes it good). However, would also say it varies between encounter and standard, as 1-2 lines can be gazumped by an aggressive team in the former.

The hill is important, but pretty pointless unless you have reliable spotters near the center ridge. Also, you have to cover the other flank because sometimes the other team may otherwise flank you. (Yes, Prokhorovka is a real battle map where you can actually do flanking maneuvers despite it being the same size map as all the others.) In which case, the middle and center won't help you much either, because you will be caught with your pants down in your favorite camping bush.

im perplexed. its really lovely cos u need to make both. the hill should be rather not pushed but cleansed. with a good grip on the hill its hard to cross from the field. On the other hand. the surviving scouts who win the field outspot the hill defenders unless thera some swedes. i always scout for Tds in the field but almost never take the field side as a TD))

West side is easier to defend than East side. You can spot the hill giving the enemy a very small target under the trains. Spotting A-line from hillside is much, much harder. Given that West side is so much more real estate, spotting must most likely be done by crossing the tracks. And if the West side is holding its distance, who will fire at the tanks spotted by the scout attacking from East side?

So the A-line and the middle. Also, you don't need to go to E1 to spot, D2 or G2, depending on where you spawn is just fine. Then you spot those who think E1 is the Holy Grail and your TD:s finish them off.

Teams with a good scout can steamroll the A-line. After that you clean out the middle, unless you do that to begin with.

Then it's a formality to spot the hill and the north hill. Those who hide in the river and the gorge can not contribute to the defense of East side in a meaningful way.

I've seen games which were lost despite the A-line being won, but far more have been won.

West side is 75% of the map, on a map where view range is important, taking the West from East is much harder because you have to cross open fields with little or no cover to get to the A-line, if that is where the defending team is.

Pushing, without a shred of cover, into camping TD:s who know how to use bush mechanics is suicide.

East side offers cover, the river and houses for cover to approach hill. And you can shoot at the hills from West side.

Hill is also much more work to win, given everything else is equal.

Ask yourself this: If one team spawned on the West side, and the other on the East side. Which side would you prefer?

There's your answer.

This is of course, just my opinion.

I think it differs, sometimes you win by taking Hill side, sometimes you win by taking other side.

Usually it is a matter of being the first team to win either side, so you can get control over all 3 railway crossings AND have a foothold on the other side of the map.

Teamwork on the hill and middle are usually crucial to a win.

If I play a gun depression medium (CAX) I will go hill. My view range in it is also extreme (483m) so I can even spot heavies that are pushing the middle by the train tracks.

If I play a tank with good turret armour (T-54) I work across the middle. My preferred spot in the T-54 is more towards the road side as the depressions in the terrain there can hide my hull but at the same time they are not extreme enough so I can use the more limited gun depression of the T-54. I can quite easily get 2k+ spotting damage from these positions.

Dominate the hill and middle and you have vision control and covering fire.

When I play a scout though my strategy changes. I will active spot along the road and across the middle. Why? Because I know that even at tiers 8 - 10 there are bots that camp on the road, so it is free assist damage.
