So I started grinding Pz. 7, turns out Tier 8 VK 45.02 A is really nice. Nice mobility, workable gun, it's like a well armored medium tank.

Think I found a new keeper. Try it out, it's fun.

Had one like 3 years ago? Remembering it mediocre, any changes since then?

I liked the tank when it stil led to the Maus, never understood all the negativety.

Maybe it just works with my playstyle though.

I played through it just before they buffed it and played it a bit after they buffed it, it was very mediocre before but now it's quite decent, the extra gun depression made a huge difference. With a decent crew to tame the gun and a MT mentality when playing it, it can work, but it's main weak side in my opinion is when you're forced into 1 on 1 situations vs "real" HT's so to speak, when it's you vs for example a Defender as the 2 last tanks alive I felt like a Chi-Ri going against an E-75.

It seems to be quite decent actually. Its just shame that it seems to really struggle from the tier 8 mm as the pen on both AP and APCR is crapand the armor doesnt seem useful VS tier 9/10. Atleast its fast so it can avoid heavies and bully mediums so i guess its not that bad.

since they buffed the armor, it's a decent tank... BUT THE GUN IS DREADFUL ---> 244 pen with premium round? You have no business dealing with heavy tanks, even your own tier I would avoid. I take more HE shells because there are times when HE, as lame as it sounds, is the only way you can deal some damage vs. certain tanks.

The armor is entirely unreliable. In one match you are able to block 2000 damage, in the next one the enemies would even penetrate you if they lobbed the shells by hand. The low pen on the gun doesn't help, either.
Being a toptier and seeing that the enemy team git real heavies as toptiers can be frustrating, but overall I kinda like the VK as a support heavy.

Yes, it's actually a fun tank now.

But it's not a "keeper".

I did really good in it, though a lot of people complained about the tank being bad. It's kinda heavium, since it has the same armor as Tiger II, but more mobility. I guess it plays like the FCM 50t?

I did think about keeping it, but wanted the VK4502B. So far I really hate this tank. Can't make it work, because of the long reload/bad mobility and gold spam against it.

same problem as the Tiger II, the shells for the top gun are too expensive for the little damage.

I just played the AMX 65T on the test server. The 300 alpha gun has about the same cost, so I guess it's normal now.

What is it that they changed? I can't find anything that's different at first.

They buffed it in 9.17.1, the great "German Tech Tree Rework" patch, here is a comparison of now and before the patch:

https://tanks.gg/com...k-4502-a__v0917

Basically you lost 2 degrees of elevation to gain 2 degrees of depression 6->8 which the tank badly needed, at least the extra gun depression. You also gained 30 mm extra hull armor, which meant that you now had 150 mm hull armor instead of 120. Now the hull armor is somewhat usable plus you don't need to expose as much of the tank to get of a shoot with the extra gun depression which have made the turret quite workable, before you had to move so far forward if there was a slight bump and had a hull that was auto-pen for tier 7's and up.

ah yeah, that's cool! It really needed the gun depression buff. for me it was one of the major downsides. the lower pen on the top gun was annoying at times at well. if the tier 8 mm would be normal I would even consider rebuying it.

I thought the hull armor was already the same as on TigerII, but I guess not then..

I did play it shortly before the buffs to unlock the VK4502B and it was already quite ok to be honest.

Lot's of people hated on this tank but they were playing it like an actual heavy which is wrong, it's a heavy medium tank and if you play it as such, it's quite a good tank.

Got an indirect nerf like every single T8 tank.

Yep.. Even our lord and saviour QB was astonished on his stream yesterday.. He played 2 (TWO!!!) full hours of pure tier 8 games before he saw his first tier 6 tanks..

I have tried to reason what WG is thinking about tier 8 MM situation.

First, WG spams the game with tier 8 premium tanks, clearly to make a lot of money by selling them to players.

Then, they mess up the tier 8 MM so people don't want to buy the said tanks. Because why buy them if you are just cannon fodder in most games.

Must be some advanced rasha logic right there. (Insert Jingles laughter for 30 seconds)
