Some clans offer avatars that are visible besides the nickname of the player in the shape of a small icon, i was wondering whether you can put one yourself without being in a clan (i read that you can on the official xvm site)

Start a clan with only you in it(2,500 Gold) and you get to choose an avatar of your own design. I set up this (solo)clan when it was on special for only 100 Gold.

World_of_Tanks\res_mods\mods\shared_resources\xvm\res\clanicons\EU\nick

There should be some icons already in there (if not, their size is 96x96 pixels), just edit one to whatever you want and change its name to your nickname. Only you can see it of course.

LOL.

I hope you are aware the only thing originally inside the res_mods folder is another folder named after the current game version (0.9.20.1.3 atm) which in turn contains a single readme file saying "This folder is used for World of Tanks modifiers (mods). " . That's it.

Every version has its own folder with the readme file, but both can be deleted whenever a new patch comes up.

I'm guessing you've never used xvm? Besides the .wotmod that it puts in mainwotfolder/mods/gameversion it also creates two folders - mods and configs - inside mainwotfolder/res_mods.

Keyword: originally

You might want to look that one up.

I see that you are not the brightest light in the christmas tree...

The OP asks about the logos he sees in randoms next to the names of the players > this means he have XVM installed > this means he will find that folder that @qqq10 is talking about.

Stop trying to look smart bro, you missed completely the point of this thread...

well then he need to ask that on xvm forum (or at least in subforum for mods), xvm is not part of wot, and it's not developed by wg. so why making topic about it in gameplay subforum?
