Spent 4 hours in the game today playing tier 6 tanks, 2 sessions with 2 hours personal reserves. I recorded the kind of matchmaking I was receiving during the time, so here it is:

34 games played

8 matches as top tier, including 2 games with only 1 tier spread and 3 games with no spread, just equal tier tanks, but I decided to count them as top tier games too.

5 matches as mid tier. Those are 2 tier spread matches in which I'm neither top nor bottom tier.

21 matches as bottom tier, including 4 games where the spread was only 1 tier, but I decided to count them as bottom tier games.

All in all that makes about 61% of the games you play at tier 6 bottom tier, with about 80% of them true bottom tier games against tier 8 tanks and the other 39% are mid or top tier games, with mid tier games somehow being the least common of all 3 types.

Didn't actually think the results would be so horrible, otherwise I'd have made screenshots of every loading screen and uploaded them. This probably sounds kinda unbelievable.

That's what matchmaking is nowadays. Working as intended according to wargaming, nothing to see here.

I dont even think about that kind of stuff and just do my best, pointless dwelling on it and just move on :)

Being bottom tier vs tier 7 is not a real problem, but I can agree that tier 8 sometime can be pesky.

But I really enjoy tier 6. With tier 9 is the most fun tier in game. :)

That's 3-5-7 at work for you.  But bear in mind that we got here because people complained about the old matchmaking because you sometimes ended up as the only bottom tier so be careful what you wish for, WG can only make it worse.

You still have my record to beat from Saturday...Playing only the T34-85M I had 22 bottom tier games in a row. 17 tier 8 in a row. 18th and 20th game was tier 7. After that it was 2 more tier 8 games before I gave up.

Today playing this morning I had 17 bottom tier games in out of 17 possible. Had to play TX to get a top tier game (full TX obviously).

"New MM" is a complete disaster after their "fix" for it. Worked great for a few days and everyone was happy since it was mostly same tier or +-1 MM. So obviously WG has to [edited]it up because...cant have the players being happy about something.

Ive 170 battles at T6 since i started keeping a check, 41% bottom 357, 21% middle 357, 8% top 357,  11% bottom 5-10, 8% top 5-10, 11% same tier.

My T5 over 495 battles are roughly the same %, and even my T4 are near enough the same. Its definitely an issue that is programmed in to happen and not just `bad luck`.

Wish I had so much luck. I play only a few battles max, as I'm never toptier. The only 'toptier' battles I usually get is full tier 6.

I notice bad MM in tier 6 mainly with medium and heavies. Light tanks get better MM it seems

Depends on what server, and when. The later it is, the worse it gets. As a bigger % of the server sits on higher tiers vs lower then.

Tier 8 MM is broken due to the new 3-5-7. That IMO we don't need on high tiers. I get that we need it on low tiers, since there are more new players etc there that benefits from it. On tier 8+ we need a different format, that would let the pressure off tier 8. That again would let some pressure of tier 6. 5-7-9 are the best tiers atm. More top tier games, and tier 7 sees more equal tier then 6 and 8 does. At least for me on EU 2 on non pref mm tanks.

I love being bottom tier in my tier 6 (Jackson)!

No pressure, and great carrying potential :coin:

Been trying to 3-mark that one for ages now. I just too damn slow to carry any games with it.

But ppl were mostly asking for +-1 MM. Not for this 3-5-7 system.

Because +-1 would be much more comfortable. You would be lower tier about 50 % of time and a higher tier the rest of the time - if it was done right. And even if you were a bottom tier, you wouldn't have that much trouble fighting the higher tiers, because the difference would be only +-1. But good luck trying to fight a tier 10 with a stock tier 8.

Then of course it would be a question of balancing the tank types as well. But since WG is already takign steps to adress this, I don't think it would be too much of a problem. If these two things were actually done right.... it would only come down to skill and RNG. Ideal situation IMO.

Plus it is quite obvious already that (a lot of players) hate this new MM for quite obvious reasons. So if WG just reverted to the old system, it would be welcomed by a lot of people. Maybe someone would dislike it. But I doubt it would be worse than now. Just take a look at all the complaints at the forums right now.

> The state of Tier VI Matchmaking

IMO a direct consequence of 3-5-7 team composition. Lots of lower tier players needed for that to work. Lower tiers that likely don't exist. :(

So basically you had this:

In 3-5-7 MM:

Battle tier reality perfect world
8 3 5
7 5 8
6 17 12

In 5-10 MM:

Battle tier reality perfect world
7 2 2
6 4 4

In same tier MM:

Battle tier reality perfect world
6 3 3

So in a total of 34 battles, 5 battles were played in a higher tier compared to an ideal world.

Sounds to me like this is not that bad.....

In an ideal world this template-nonsense wouldn't even exist ...

Well.... it's not ideal. But I find it funny how people complain about the current MM, as if the previous MM was so very good.

At least now we don't have battles anymore where you're the only tier 6 amongst a few tier 7 tanks and mostly tier 8.

The new MM templates mean that you're less often top tier, but you're able to do much more as a bottom tier.
