Question to WG staff:
are WhiteTracks and SafeShot mod legal to use?

WhiteTracks - makes detracked tracks white color
SafeShot - blocks shot at allies/dead tanks

They will let you know one day if they are not ok but don't expect any clarification from WG.

Why not just go vanilla? No-one from WG is likely to answer you (after all, you are still basically discussing your sanction on the forum).

This is the current EU rules for mods. It is under "Creation of Derivative Works" section 5.3 of illegal mods.

So yeah... I suspect it still is.

 

They also had a iffy sight on safe shot mod. It was illegal on NA at some point. Not sure if it still is after the common rule set came around.

Safe shot is quite useful, I used it as part of Aslains mod pack a good long time ago, just plain old vanilla now though. As to whether or not its legal or not.... Toss a coin you will probably have more luck than getting an official answer.

Does it make it easier to play compared to vanilla? If yes ... then go the safe route and expect no!

Right now I'm not entirely confident that is legal.  There are huge advantages to vanilla, like better framerates, not being demoralised by knowing your team mates are braindead, not being distracted by information overload.

The trouble is those rules were in force long before WG explicitly ruled that white wrecks was OK so they aren't relevant.

Safeshot should be illegal, simply because of the irritating message that come with it.

Isn't the real trouble that white dead tanks aren’t even referenced in that link?

It certainly was at the time that WG said white wrecks were OK.  It seems to have been dropped though.

I would have thought White Tracks is illegal because it highlights a disabled tank over and above the vanilla skill of 'paying attention to the game', and Safe Shot should be illegal because a player doesn't need to be as careful as a vanilla player under similar circumstances.

So does dead white tanks but WG have said that’s legal.

Does safeshot add functionality (which affects gameplay) which is not availlable in the vanilla client? If yes, it is illegal.

 

It adds the functionality of not being able to "shoot at or hit your teammembers".

Teamdamage is a basic gamefeature which can affect the outcome of a battle.

Logic dictates that it is illegal.

white tracks gives you an advantage, so, i think is illegal
