Did the development stopped or we might see it in the future?

Supposedly a new game mode.

Like Grand Battles and Ranked at the same time. But with proper ranks and SPGs are less of a drag, 30 X 30 in 9km^2 maps.

I've checked the SB Forum and the oldest records are from May. No more mentions of it ever since, though it was a very promising game mode.

Grand battle was a fail in my opinion. The map sucks. 3 tunnels and you have to pick which one to get force fed through. No flanking, no proper sniping. Absolutely no use for scouts. Doubt front line would be any better.

Did you play it on Sandbox? It was far superior to GB I have disabled that since it is pretty much as you described but frontline was fun. Would love to see it in game at least I'd have a reason to play my tier 10s again.

Frontlines sucked because you couldn't play on the whole map at once. Give a huge map, can only play 1km*1km area. (yeah yeah, there were three of them but it really worked as 3 battles happening on same map, not one huge battle. Because corridors are awesome!!!)

I understand, but I had my hopes up concerning this game.

Imagine BattleFields' ticket system... on World of Tanks. gg

But the point is... did development of this game mode ceased, was it shelved or are they still at it? That's what I'd like to know... :)

Oddly enough. WG talked about it today. WG did not develop the new mode. They had outside help from a studio called Bongfish. Since they had lots of experience with large open world physics. That also explain why they had time to make two GB maps since their team was occupied with HD maps, as they made it for them. To put it short. They quickly found out that starting that big with frontline might not be ideal. They blamed tier X LT's coming to name one along with a few other upcoming changes. And that old PC's still could not get good enough FPS on the larger maps. And thus GB evolved from it on a smaller scale to perfect that first for potato PC's. Then come back to it later. And since even people with 1080 cards that normally get 127 fps. Got sub 35 FPS on Klondike on CT, Circon was even dipping in the 20's at times. I suspect they still have ways to go.

the next logical step is to create huge battles 30 vs 30 or even biget ... if they want something new ... this is it ..

What a terrible shame. I don't suppose you have a link concerning this, would you?

Panda pls. Is what map's 'bout.

Agree on the other stuff. Frontline would potentially offer more dynamic gameplay; I already think assault/encounter are superior to standard battles, so I have high hopes. There's no real use for the cap point when you have to dig out every goddarn basecamper to win a match - the only use it has is when you don't want to/can't hunt down the last enemy tanks...

Uh that's a bad comparison, it didn't have anything to do with ranked (ranks were only per-battle) and the only thing in common with GB was the 30vs30 setup. It was more a mix of Assault and Rampage (respawns, repair points) on a much larger map with some new special mechanics (enforced map control, airstrikes, bunkers) on a much larger map.

While grand battles or ranked are pretty much just ordinary random battles with minor rule changes.

He said "For this mode and for FRONTLINE". By that choice of wording, it may still be in the works. That's great to hear.

Yet, I'll keep my hopes down until WG has something to say about it.
