You have 40mm pen you are facing 23mm armor but you bounce WHY,

__OK what is RNG ?,__

**R**andom **N**umber **G**eneration or **R**andom **N**umber **G**enerator.

__What does RNG do ?, __

generates a number randomly between certain parameters,

*imagine* 2 dice 1 6 sided dice and 1 25 sided dice,

the roll of the 6 sided dice decides whether it's a + or - percentage, say odd number - and even number +,

the roll of the 25 sided dice decides the size of the percentage.

__How does this work ?,__

say your penetration is 40mm,

you roll the 2 dice,

the 6 sided dice gives you a 5 that's a - %,

the 25 sided dice gives you a 10 so that's 10%

so the 2 dice have given you -10% to your 40mm penetration,

so your penetration is now only 36mm,

HOWEVER RNG is not the only decider in penetration,

you also have to take into account the angle of the armor and any spaced armor the target has,

**Angled armor penetration**

Armour is increased by angling it you can see how this works in the below image,

(Effective armor = the thickness of armor the shell actually has to pass through the red line,)

Image **A** shows 30mm of armor that is flat giving you 30mm of effective armor,

image **B** shows 23mm of armor angled at 45 degrees, this gives you 32.5mm of effective armor,

So as you can see if it says a tank has 23mm of armor, if that tank or armor is angled at 45% that armor then becomes 32.5mm of armor,

add to that the -10% pen you got from RNG and your 40mm pen against 23mm armor, has now become 36 pen against 32.5 armor

**Spaced armor penetration**

Spaced armor adds extra thickness to armor, lets use tracks as an example as they are classed as spaced armor,

below tier 5 tracks add between 5 - 15mm of armor,

above tier 5 tracks for lights, mediums and small heavies can add between 20 - 30mm armor,

heavier tank tracks can add up to 40mm of armor,

Ok say take your 40mm pen and 23mm armor

a tank has 23mm of armor, if that tank or armor is angled at 45% that armor then becomes 32.5mm of armor,

add to that the -10% pen you got from RNG and your 40mm pen against 23mm armor, has now become 36 pen against 32.5 armor

add to that between 5 - 15mm spaced armor and it's now 36mm pen against 37.5 - 47.5 armor

So just because you have 40mm pen and you know the tank has 23mm armor by the time RNG, Angled armor and Spaced armor are taken into consideration you could be looking at 36mm pen against 47.5mm armor.

That's how you can bounce 40mm pen against 23mm armor.

Now before you all jump down my throat and say i missed out types of shells, normalisation, compound angles and other stuff i've tried to make this guide as simple as possible showing only the very basics.
