Good day ladies and gentlemen, this suggestion is about second British heavy tank line added to the roster. This British heavy tank line will take its place in the British tech tree as second alternative for British heavies and at Tier X you could get the famous Chieftain Mk.6 tank with L11A1 120 mm gun.

So what would this line look like?

It would consist of 2 heavy medium tanks, heavy in mass, but not that heavy in armor, from tier IV till tier X it would consist of heavy tanks.

Tier II

A7 (Medium tank)

The Medium Tank A7 was developed at the same time as the Vickers A6 and Medium Tank Mark III, but was produced 'in-house', with the design being led by the Chief Superintendent of Design.

Three prototypes were produced. The A7E1 and A7E2 were built in 1929-1931 and were very similar vehicles. The A7E3 was developed and built between 1933 and 1937 and was a modified model.

A14 (Medium tank)

The Cruiser Tank A14 was a design for a heavy cruiser or medium tank that was built by the LMS to a design created by the Chief Superintendent of Tank Design. In 1936 Lt Col G. le Q. Martel, Assistant Director of Mechanisation at the War Office, visited Russia, where he saw the T-28, itself partly based on the British Medium Tank A6 (the sixteen tonner).

Churchill II (Heavy tank)

The Churchill Mk II was the most numerous of the 2-pounder versions of the Churchill infantry tank. The Churchill Mk I was armed with a 2-pounder gun and coaxial Besa machine gun in a small cast turret and a 3" howitzer in the hull front. Late in 1940 it was discovered that the supply of howitzers was running short, and so most early Churchills were completed as the Mk II, which carried a second Besa machine gun in the hull front instead. It retained the small cast turret with 2-pounder gun and coaxial machine gun.

A33/1 Excelsior (Heavy tank)

The original design for the A.33 was meant to produce a “Heavy Assault Tank based on the Cromwell using thicker armor and redesigned suspension”, “re-introducing armored skirting plates over the suspension”. The project appeared to be directly challenging the Churchill tank, as several mentions are made of the automotive unreliability, poor speed, and overall negative opinion of the Churchill. The A.33’s project goals and requirements were mirrored in the T14 Heavy/Assault Tank, a tank which was designed and built in the United States.

FV4201 (Heavy tank)

The Chieftain originated from a British Leyland design of a new tank, dating as early as 1950, when the War Office requested a replacement for the Centurion, as the Medium Tank No 2. The Centurion itself was not seen as ideal in firepower since the arrival of Soviet heavy tanks armed with 120 mm guns like the IS-3 and following models up to the T-10. The British Conqueror heavy tank tried to respond with a high velocity, long 120 mm  gun, but not surprisingly failed on the mobility aspect. The next tank had to have a heavier gun on a more mobile package. Design of the FV4201 started in 1958, and the first prototype was built in 1959.

Interesting. I rather like the idea. One other tank I would like to see, just for the lulz, is the Churchill AVRE with the 280 mm mortar. It would make a really weird premium heavy.

Wait a second...so you want the l1a1 on a tier 8 heavy....go home...you are drunk.

Also...those 2 l11a1...on mk1 and mk6...wtf??? Heavy tanks with better guns than medium tanks? More pen...better gun handling...better accuracy...better aim time...more alpha...more dpm...like wtf...isn't enough that the shitconqueror is already f-cking over the tier 10s with its "balance"...now you want something better than that...also...going from 35kph..to 48...so...just wait a bit...same mobility as a patton...more pen...more alpha...same aim time...way way way better accuracy...more armour...like really....might as well just bring back the waffle...with 6 rounds...and call it a day.

Why not ? Uuuwee, it's 120 mm L1A1, so it's good, please. The best comparison would be T34, Tier VIII USA Premium, it has also 120 mm with high pen. In comparison to T34, FV4201 is 5 km/h slower, and it has worse hp/t to T34 even upgraded, it's less armored, only good thing would be the gun, even if it is less accurate than T34's.

Looks like, someone has had bad games :D. But you know what hasn't Heavy tanks ? Mobility, get around and take them down, also those stats aren't engraved into stone. And Mk.6 stats have been taken from the WoT Consoles version Mk.6, hmm, are they crying as much as you do ? Probably not, if they would, the tank would get nerfed or taken out.

Some of these are nice, but I'm sure you can find decent replacements for one of the chieftain versions, also there's problem with Wargaming and the Chieftain.

They won't release it.

Also, the Excelsior is already ingame, I don't see a need for another clone of it. Also, another Churchill... we already have FIVE of them in the game. Churchill I, Churchill III, Churchill VII, Black Prince and the Churchill Gun Carrier.

+1 for the effort.

Great idea, but ...

Top gun of FV4201 seems OP and the tank as a whole doesn't seems to fit the "line's play style". Tier 7 is utter garbage and would be unplayable. Tier 9 is just copy-paste, similar case to E-50>E-50M and Conqueror>Super Target-dummy ...

Meaning - nothing exciting apart from the top dog. I don't get why Tier 9 Heavies so often get the top tier Heavy of their line's gun as their top gun. Seems a bit "Meh!" ? M103 with E5's gun. AMX 50 120 with AMX 50B's gun and so on, and so on.

I really want to Chieftain Mk.6, but I don't think that just is going to happen with the likes of the Mk.1 and the FV4201. And that Tier 7 ? Yuck !

A lot of tanks don't fit their line. Ignore Wargaming's latest changes - they need some kind of excuse to remove tanks from tech trees to gain more premiums to sell.

Hmm, well, maybe you can put FV4201 at tier IX, with better engines and make it a little bit unhistorical, because it's too slow. At tier X there still has to be some Chieftain (P variants and Mark variants), I can't find anything else what to put there.
For tier V replacement, maybe it can be replaced by A28 (Infantry Cromwell), armor would not be that good, hull  88.9/ 88.9/50.8 mm and turret  101.6/88.9/88.9 mm with 6-pdr as the top gun.
As for excelsior, this is the first variant, in-game it is the second one, well they don't change that much, only thing is the suspension, so that's why I gave it A37 turret as upgrade option to make it atleast somewhat decent tier VI. (I know, you wouldn't be able to mount it on excelsior, but I thought it was the only choice). As for replacement, there is also a A31 (Infantry Cromwell). Estimated weight was about 32 tons with hull armor being 101.2/58.7/38.1 and turret armor being 114/88.9/82.6 mm. I dunno what the top gun would be or what it's mobility would be. Tier VII could stay as it is.
But what to put as Tier VIII if FV4201 get's bumped up as Tier IX. There is a rumor tank, A35 which was meant as Heavy Comet, there is nothing written about it, only that it would use modified Christie-type suspension “using straddle mounted pivot shaft bearings”. So the armor, if A31 increased Cromwells armor by 40, then maybe A35 would do something similar and as top gun you could give 32-pdr.
Writing this, I like this line better, kinda, it makes much more sense in upgrades, like, from heavy mediums you go to heavies which are modified mediums, which lead to Main Battle tanks. Maybe I have to redesign this line for a little bit.
But what to do with A20, it seems out of place in this line then... put another medium there, maybe.

They have said that they wont put Chieftain in the game as they are too incompetent to make it work. Something most of the players could do, but not them. I mean, it would work as it is now, but WG in their incompetence cannot see that.

Higher pen...higher dpm...and the l1a1 doesn't take 3 billion years to aim...also...259mm of pen on a tier 8 heavy? Are u really that drunk?

You can't compare console to pc...also...do u really think that a tank with the same mobility as the patton...double the armour...and better gun...would really make the game better?....like really.

Few changes I would do:

  • I would replace at least the tier 5 (maybe tier 4 but don't think its necessary; you can change it so that it leads to the Churchill I among with a new tier 5). Some options include the Valiant, which is silly tank that is as small and overarmored as possible. While failure IRL, it would be kinda keks in WoT as tier 5 or so. Slow but very thick frontal armor. Other options include AT 1, which is basically a turreted AT 2, ofc with less armor for sake of balance. Basically quite comparable to the Valiant. I don't see the point of using Churchill II as tier 5; its too similar to the Churchill I and is weird to have it as another tier 5 on another line.
  • Tier 8 is broken; its minmaxed to death, so I would rework it. I would give it like 230 standard AP pen, and then make the current standard AP premium round, but then in return give it an engine that gives it around at least 10 hp/ton so it is somewhat mobile.
  • I would replace the tier 9 with the prototype model of the Chieftain:
Spoiler

WG tends to like using the prototype model of the tier 10 as tier 9 (AMX 30 P, Leo PTA, Strv 103-0), so the Chieftain P1 is more suitable than the Mk. 1, IMO. No significant differences to Mk 1, anyway, besides (I think) its a bit slower. I would also nerf the gun stats as they are too similar as the tier 10. 2.7k DPM with those gun stats is overkill for a tier 9 HT, especially when the tier 10 already has the best DPM of all tier 10 HTs in the game yet it has "only" 200 more.

Other than that, looks fairly good.

Good job, but too many clones/copies in the higher tiers.

Thats good for WG though because they try to make tier 8-10 have very similar playstyle with all the line reworks.

Good job, but...Why not bigger guns, with lower accuracy, and higher pen and alpha, and tier 10 the old FVB?

Worse armour and mobility actually. Pattons turret is better. Hull also is better as Chieftains upper plate only works when angled enough. Pattons work on flat ground too.
