So what is everybodys thoughs on this?

It looks to me just to be a smaller version on the super conqueror, not that is a bad thing, love the spaced armor on that thing.

So not the most original tank, but it will be nice to have a half decant tier 8 premium heavy tank for the British line.

It's better than the t7 premium heavy, the FV201 A45. But not as good as standard Caernarvon. So it looks to be like a slower Centurion Mark 1 or Prima Victoria, with more HP.

DPM is good, but considering it's matchmaking and tier - I'd rather play Prima Victoria/Centurion 1 than this, or standard Caernarvon. Tier per tier, it's no match to some other t8 premium heavies - it could be one of the worst t8 heavies with standard matchmaking.

But this looks like it is getting a turret with spaced armor, and that is not a bad thing.

Looks like it could be a fair crew trainer. :)

At this point, anything like a decent tier VIII heavy tank prem in the Brit line is a "shut up and take my money" event. I have the 215B for training but that's expensive to run. I'd sooner they'd given it the L7 with a lower DPM personally though.

They just re-release the old Caernarvon.

I just fell in love with that, don't know if it would be crap or not but I would buy it

I think that's pretty much spot on. Anyone who's British has been waiting a long time for a Premium T8 heavy tank to come along for sale. So it will be bought by Brits, no matter how the stats look. Because it will still be the best premium tank available to the British for buying, plus it also looks like a baby Conq with that same turret protection added to look like a better tank. I have the FV4202 and that's the best British premium tank at the minute.

It's sad that it's taken this long to see one possibly come though. I've played WOT for around 4 years on and off, now I'm pretty much bored with the game... so doubt I'll buy it. Come too late for me, the Brits should have had a T8 Heavy premium for sale years ago and never understood why WOT seem to have avoided offering one for all this time while pumping out all other nations premium T8 heavies.

Can't say I'm a fan of the Caernarvon heavy tank anyway. I've always rated it as a very poor T8 heavy tank against all the other nations heavy tanks of the same T8 class. But suppose it'll still be be the best British premium "credit earner" when released.

It's considerably better since it was buffed, and with the addition of the 32 pounder. It now has decent alpha, and if you can get it hull down (it's British after all) the RoF and DPM are pretty impressive. If it wasn't for the terrible T8 MM in general, I'd be playing it regularly.

I've tried it since the buff and still not impressed by it for a T8 heavy against other nations T8 heavies in the same class. it still lacks a better gun needed with maybe a slower refire rate but packs more of a punch per shot. It still has a hen pecker gun.

Yeah, the Brit tanks are most designed to be used as hull down tanks with decent turret armour. But this is a heavy front line tank, not a ridge camping medium/light/td tank. That is completely out of character for a heavy tank play style, but is where the tanks only strength lies. So it's a crap tank that needs to be played less like a heavy if you want to get anything out of it

I quite liked that Brit Heavies were support heavies in the game, it made them different to the brawlers of other nations, although certainly less forgiving. I'd far rather they had split an additional heavy line from T8-T10, of slower more heavily armoured Brit heavies, than make the changes to the Conqueror and FV215b.  The previous Conqueror was my most played tank until the changes to its RoF and mobility. Anyway, back on topic ;) The 3/5/7 MM can really mess up the perception of how good the Caernarvon now is. Even if there was an option for another gun (the 105), I'm not sure if I'd swap from the 32 pounder. If they did a premium version of it, as it it now (not the poxy 20 pounder version they have planned) it would be a great addition to British premium vehicles, and would sell very well.

I just hope Russia meet England in the World Cup next stages. Then we'll get our revenge for them not selling a Brit premium heavy for all these years. :izmena:

Sort of looking forward to the marathon but with comments in here it looks like it is a verh meh tank, the standard tech tree one is not brilliant, and the t7 A45 needs some buff love.

So no 32 pndr, then, well that fixes it, not worth the time and effort, you can weld as much spaced armour as you like, it won't make a scrap of difference, you might win a battle or two but you will be spamming gold.

Circon in his review made the point that its credit earning is very low for a tier VIII Premium tank, and he was only shooting AP, so spam gold and it could go into negative credits.

Is it me or does the Centurion 5/1 have better armor? It has a slower reload, but other than that it seems like the Caern AX is a slower weaker 5/1 but with a faster gun?

It is you - Cearn has better turret and way better UFP. It is slower though, but it seems like a good trade - if you take out of the equasion the Cearn of OPness it might be one of the best not-brawling HTs of the tier.
