Do maps receive different chance of ending in the map pool? For instance do maps that are Assault/Encounter viable receive more chances of getting played if a player has encounter/assault turned on and do they(in standard mode) appear less often if those modes are deselected?

I'm asking because I've been playing and waiting to get Malinovka for 5 days straight on both EU1 and EU2 and I pretty much got every other map, some way more often than others (Arctic Region, Westfield, Stalingrad) but I am yet to play one match on Malinovka. I've been playing on both servers at different times of the day with different tanks (TDs, LTs, HTs) and it's always the same template, with a Sand River and a Mountain Pass every now and then, everything except that one map. Is it because there's an encouter mode for it so from the start by having it deselected I'm less likely to get it?

Hmm? Never really given it much thought.

There have been certain days when the same map appears over & over & over.

Not too bad if it's one you like, but hell if it's not.

There also seems to be a good few maps that, despite playing many games, they are as rare as rocking horse doo doo.

Why don't you just enable it and see how long it takes?

I do know there's always a certain number of maps that circulate in the map pool, and every once in a while the map pool changes and other maps get preference, but I've never given much thought on how often certain maps end up in the map pool.

There was one guy who had really detailed statistics on like 15,000 IS-3 battles he had played including the maps he had gotten, I can't remember exactly what the results were but I do recall some maps being a bit more prevalent than others. Anyone remember who he was/has the time to dig the thread up?

Block Quote

  • Stalingrad: map occurrence probability remains on the lowered level, introduced with Update 9.13
  • Kharkov: map occurrence probability reduced four times to match the level of Stalingrad
  • Windstorm: map occurrence probability remains unchanged for the time being
  • Map availability for lower-tier tanks (Battle Tiers 4+) will also be changed. Players will experience a greater map variety.

It seems that Malinovka has been 9th common mat lately.

Yes some are tier based.
