Are the Chinese tier 7 and 8 mediums any good? Or would it be better to go down the WZ line? I know they dont have any gun depression, im not concerned about that.

Thanks!

Tier 8 is 2nd worst or the worst medium t4t in the game. T7 was the best t7 med. Now it's above average.

The whole med line is not worth it tbh.. Fun-ish but not competitive. I like the T7 and 9, but theyre not great by any stretch of the imagination.

If you like lights, that's the more easy way. The gun handling on the meds is not easy on the whole line. It's a different step going from the lower tiers to 7-10. You need to be aware of that. It takes time to get used to, but I really like them.

The tier 9 has very bad gun depression of -3, but I was already familiar with -5 on the heavies. For me personally I didn't struggle much with it, but the line is not easy to play.

I disagree, and as I said: it's a different play style then other meds. This does not mean that they are not competitive. If not, there wouldn't be a lot of people out there who do great in them. The gun handling is not that easy, but the alpha damage is nice on t7-8, but great on 9 and 10.

China meds suck... just crappy russian version. tier 7 is dogpoop thanks to paper hull and terrible module damage which also have super low hitpoints coz WG hate china.

Tier 7 one is awesome. Tier 8 is possibly one of the worst tanks in the game. Some people like the tier 9 but gunhandling is abysmal and 3,5 gun dep kills the tank. At least for me.

Personally I like the 121. Its pretty fun to play.

It's insanity to go down the medium line without going the heavy line first. Furthermore, the medium line is not that good. The 121 (T10) is rather nice, but not really worth it. T7/8 are manageable compared to the insane stock grind you're facing on the T9. Seriously, it's terrible, and once you're elite you have to cope with -3 gun depression. It's really awkward. Heavy line shaves off 166k (gun+gun+top engine) from that grind - but of course featues two really nasty stock grinds on its own (the 100mm on the 110 and 130mm on the WZ-111 1-4).

The heavy line is allright, but kind of a hard grind compared to the Russian equivalent. Speaking of Russians - the revamp of the Russian 430-line will make the Chinese even more pointless; they'll get big guns as well, so there's really no point in going for the 121. It's also much cheaper to get a crew trainer for the Soviets than the Chinese (you're locked to a T8, T6 for lights). Stock grinds are likely to be far easier than the WZ-120.

My recommendation would however be to grind the British mediums. You apparently have a FV4202, and that line is actually quite good overall.

Not entirely.. The tier 7 is still a good medium, but granted they all somewhat suck balls, so that's not really an achievement there. It still has a great turret and very good alpha, which just works.

The WZ-131 is a perfectly balanced, superb tier 7 light, but it gets overshadowed by the T71's and the OP premium lights (Type 62 and 13 57 GF). It may have been nerfed a bit (dpm of the top 85mm) but its still a great little tank tier for tier. Matter of fact i prefer it over the T71. Its such a blast to play and my go-to tank whenever i feel like crying.

t7 is quite good, small mobile with good alpha but has really annoying gun handling. T8 problem is that it is more or less same t7 but just tier up sure it is more mobile has better gun handling but that is just not enough, anyway i still consider it better then TVP or Panther II since it is smaller and more mobile. My advise would be if you plan play them prepare good crew. With fresh crew this line grind might be pure pain.

Also keep in mind the cuteness factor of the Chinese meds.. Fun fact. The T-34-1 is actually smaller than the WZ-131.. And the T-34-2 is even smallerer more smaller .

This is a very simple logical error where you assume something must be good/true because lots of other people think so. People don't grind lines based on objective performance off the line, they grind it based off perception of how good it is , how fun it is or because they find a certain tank cool. Hell there are many other reasons but assuming something is good/true because many people think so is a good way to having some really silly ideas like that the earth is flat (many people think so), vaccines cause autism (many people think so) or that any Peugot is a good car (many people buy them)

I like the Chinese light line, currently at the WZ131 and enjoying it, it has a semi trollish turret, and good gun handling, apart from depression, and what's not to like in a 200 Alpha gun.  Thats more alpha than quite a few T8, lights, if not all of them.

WHich isn't saying much, since the tier 8 lights tend to be underpowered. That said, I agree. The Chinese lights are definitely the high point of the Chinese tech-tree.

As it is right now more or less all Chinese mediums are total garbage. Not worth going for unless you dont have anything else left to research in the game.

T7 has one redeeming feature, a pretty much impenetrable turret and a low silhouette, so you can make it work against higher tiers as well. The gun is potato though.

The tier 8 has no redeeming features and is not worth it, a thing which continues all the way through to tier 10.

I've seen a few deep purples on NA have great results in the 121 after the gun dep buff but it must be player specific. It's sad since I have nothing to do with my 5 skill china med crew (and I have a 3 skill heavy and 5 skill light crew too so only reason is the low challenge of marking the only tank I enjoy in the line - t34-1).

Tier & is a little worst than russian model, Tier 7 and 8, same. tier 9 and 10 are good. Compared with russain MT's, chinese have more chance to burn. Combine this with the gun handling, and have fun playing them

Once, a long long time ago on a blue moon (between patch 8.7 and 9.6), the tier 7 was a fun and flaming medium tank to play.

Then uncle WG changed the GLOBAL dispersion sigma again, because the earlier buff had caused other unintended issues and whining. After this it never regained what it used to be: the fun little derpy Chinese medium.

It became just an agonizing lottery whether your gun would hit or not...even if you waited ~6 seconds to be fully aimed.

The tier 8 has been especially hit hard by power creep, since like several years.

I think WG's internal manuals describing this tank were lost in the ensuing fire when they released the Defender etc and were then lost to all eternity. At least so it seems like how WG is seemingly ignoring this machine.

The tier 7 is fun and pretty competitive *IF* you have a great crew to somewhat alleviate the horrible gun handling. As has been said before in this thread.. This is NOT a line to train up crews, but more of a laid back fun line when you've researched most stuff and just want to play "something else". Use the heavy line to grind the Chinese and then the med line for fun.
