Regarding my last post, most people recommended the Soviet Heavies. Im at the KV-85 and its painful as it seems a long grind to get an actual gun, let alone the IS. The current 85mm is dreadful in tier 8 games and has what feels like 0 gun depression. any tips for playing this tank with 85mm and with a permanent gun? Cheers.

I don't like the big gun on it, so I used the 100mm. Less damage per shot, but at least I was able to do a lot more consistent damage with it.

Watch some video's about it on how to play!

I sold mine after 3 battles when it turned to the KV-85 from the KV-1S, was so disappointed with the gun depression at the time that I just couldn't take it, but yes the 100mm is the way to go, with that it's quite the capable tank.

The 100mm can perform really well, but the 2.8° of gun depressiom sucks, it defines everything you do, and everywhere you go. The 122mm is for shcits and giggles only, you need to play it like a KV2, don't go anywhere alone 'cos the long reload is a killer.  You do own a KV2 I trust??  In tier 8 battles keep away from the IS3s etc, it will end very quickly...

Use the 100mm. In theory you can outgun most other T6 tanks. Mobility is key, as is 'abusing' terrain features to get the gun down. Avoid the hills if you can, but with some practice you learn what can work.

WZ-120 gameplay (check Youtube, Wotreplays.eu) can give some clue on how to use it if you struggle to find a lot on the KV-85; there are very few tanks with -3 in-game, and those are IIRC the only turreted ones.
