Saw QB opening his... He reckoned that he got gold in lieu of his already purchased premium tanks. Do you have any?

Well you primarily buy the boxes to get a good deal on gold + fast progress on the decoration event...

Why would you buy 5x11 boxes when for the same price you could've just gotten 1x75, that would've been 9 extra boxes for free basically.

Anyway, you spent 146€, and you got 141€ worth of gold and all the prem time and garage slots on top, and I wager you also got a couple million credits that you just didn't bother even counting. Also since you got 10 garage slots it means you got at least 10 of the tier 4 premium tanks, and if you didn't already have one or all of them in the garage you got those too that you might have missed. Had you bought 1x75 and 1x11 you would've spent 26€ less and actually gotten 3 boxes more.

Everyone here told that buying the boxes for the tier 8 prems is a bad investment, only buy them if you want lots of gold and an instant level 10 atmosphere as a bonus. Any and all premium tanks that you might get are added extra, you shouldn't count on them.

Judging by your thought process and buying behavior, definitely something else...

If i invest gold in premium tanks when they will be on discounts i think that i can buy a lot of them ...

I just try to say that not everyone who buy 75 + boxes will get 3 or 4 Preimum tier 8 tanks ... so , not all is nice and good ... i do  not say that is bad .. but would be a good feeling to get one of those tanks ... At least now i have enough gold to not spend a dime ever again on this game .. and for sure i will never fall for this type of surprise boxes ...

Somehow i knew that i am not from that category that will get a free premium tank .. and i investet this amount of money to be sure , and no matter how many boxes i will buy i will never get any of those tanks ...

You didn't buy 75 boxes.

You bought 5x11 boxes and 1x25 box. That is completely different.

P.S, regarding the bold text. You already did.

I wonder what's the legal framework concerning all this.

If people pay for the chance of getting a random prize, that's called gambling and there are rules for it.

Since you cannot lose your stake, the rules are naturally different.

For example, gambling (especially online gambling) in many US territories is illegal and in some it is only legal to play state-run gambling. However it is not illegal to play a game of chance (for example the lottery) provided you leave the state to purchase the tickets.

Prove it's gambling, I don't consider it so as you get your moneys worth in either credits/gold or premium time in every box. If you call it 'gambling' you are 'gambling' on the opportunity to win extra.

If you pay a price and don't know the outcome, that's gambling.

It's better than drawing lots because there is no blank. Even if you "get nothing" you at least get your money's worth back. People complain that they didn't get what they expected.

But i'm sure Wargaming haven't already done their research on this. Since it's obviously not a well known fact that gambling is regulated and even unlawful in many places. Obviously their legal department in NA don't know the laws of their own country...

:D

Edit: FYI. You do know the outcome. You get 250 gold, and a level V decoration (worth 250 gold in WGs eyes) That is the equivelent price to what you spend per box, you even make profit on every box with the larger bundles. The fact you MAY recieve a FREE GIFT (very important) is an irrelevent factor.

Currently, the Gambling Commission does not class loot boxes as gambling because, in its view, the items obtained from them cannot be exchanged for real-life money. This is an odd position, considering the vast number of third-party sites that let you trade in-game items or currency for real-money. Paragraph 3.17 of the position paper states: "Where there are readily accessible opportunities to cash in or exchange those awarded in-game items for money or money's worth those elements of the game are likely to be considered licensable gambling activities."

Paragraph 3.17 then goes on to describe loot boxes quite explicitly and compares them to playing a slot machine - though they still aren't gambling.

"By way of example, one commonly used method for players to acquire in-game items is through the purchase of keys from the game's publisher to unlock 'crates', 'cases' or 'bundles' which contain an unknown quantity and value of in-game items as a prize. The payment of a stake (key) for the opportunity to win a prize (in-game items) determined (or presented as determined) at random bears a close resemblance, for instance, to the playing of a gaming machine."

Paragraph 3.18 then clarifies that, even though loot boxes or crates or whatever resemble slot machines, loot boxes are not considered gambling unless they contain items with real-world value: "Where prizes are successfully restricted for use solely within the game, such in-game features would not be licensable gambling."

Luckily for video game publishers, this technicality provides a loophole. There's a reason you can't "cash-out" Steam wallet funds or FIFA Coins, even though you can use those funds to buy more games and in-game items.

Mind you, I started this by saying I wondered what was the legal framework.

So I wonder why some people still cry over the Mutant, as it was a gift over the purchase of gold.

Well unlike gambling on maybe a chance of a tier 8, the Mutant was a gift being given only to players willing to buy a specific pre buy package, guaranteed to be owned, exclusively, to those players buying that package. No gamble but the gift and it's exclusive ownership is why we all bought it.

It is like the Pz2J that we get free with a £90 gold bundle, people say it's a £90 tank when in reality it is not. It was never stated as an exclusive tank, but once rarer than a Mutant, but no promise was ever made regarding the Pz2J so no old owners complain because its not a pre order exclusive stated to never be sold by WG.

Being offered a free tier 8 exclusive only to those of you who spend a small fortune on a game not finalised or yet released from open beta is quite a bit different from buying £80 worth of boxes because if your lucky you "might" get a tier 8 premium tank.

I was showing that i am not so lucky like all streamers and contributors who get their hands on 2 , 3 or even 4 Tier VIII tanks from the same amount of boxes ... I think that i need to work harder on my luck .. Like start streaming ... placing likes and always good comments .. give all the time positive reviews .... You know , what normal people do to have a better luck ... :):)
