IS-3 shooting upwards at me (from lower ground), turret pointed straight on him. 500mm effective armor.

Serious tinfoil hat crap here.

Explain please.

ok apcr IS-3 is average 265mm. with high roll that can pen your mantlet as you have roughly 280

Constantly happens me in the Paytriot too. Such a stupid place to get penned when it should never be pennable. Just bad modeling.

There's a 260-something tiny tiny slit just over the mantlet that he could have almost max pen rolled, but that's not where the hole indicates it hit... The worst part is the guy snapshotted my cheeks the shot after, fair enough at that angle and using the gun dep there is TINY spots of 240 effective, but come on x.x kill me

At first I thought it was the tiny little protrusion on top of the mantlet, but nope.

And it looks like you're checking the effective at the middle of the mantlet, which it wasn't either. Fair enough if it was an APCR high-roll pen in the middle of the mantlet, but it wasn't

Totally the memes to lose a highground, hulldown fight vs an IS-3 using the entirety of his gun elevation to snapshot upwards, showing what felt like a full flat on turret roof (just sitting there the entire time, utilizing 0 armor). FML

Where the hole is is not always where the shell actually hit.

This. The hit decals are not accurately depicted.

I thought mantlets counted as spaced armour?

OK this wasn't heat, but surely there is some difference between spaced and slab armour of the same thickness.

I think the decal isn't accurate and he actually hit the 190mm area just above the mantlet

Ah yes... u had heard that T26E5 is OP and thought its mantlet is impenetrable... I found out pretty fast when I got it. Soon as my turret front was spotted through an opening between rocks, a Strv103(from 300m) told me I could go f*** myself.

It was a nice lesson...

alright lets just say it wasnt a 1 in a million shot..

there is a bug in the game, probably since the beginning (just like ghost shells), but in this case the shot isnt ignoring the tank model, it just ignores the armor

happens from time to time but you obviously only notice it when you get hit somewhere where youre sure that it should never pen

examples from myself:

IS-3 AP through IS-7 turret front

T49 HE pen through IS-7 front

Hetzer HEAT through Churchill VII front (and no it wasnt a turret overmatch Im talking about the hull)

Type 58 AP through IS-3 front

should be enough to prove that there is something like that in the game

He did 218 Damage, meaning he likely had the 100mm gun and not the top 122mm. Unless he fired HE And got a pretty damn good shot on some weak armour, but I find that highly unlikely.

No he did 397, 218 was the hit the T26 did on the IS-3...

Oh, my mistake then. You'd think I'd notice the difference there especially considering I even played today, but frankly I don't really look at the panel. :P
