You are all engaging the enemy ahead of you, either holding them or pushing them back.

Spoiler

Suddenly you notice a few enemy tanks that may be moving to flank you, so you and one or two other tanks turn around to engage them, covering the rear of your allies as they continue to address the existing threat.

Spoiler

Then suddenly everyone has turned around to engage the new threat, leaving you all exposed to the existing threat and now you are all getting f***ed in the rear end.

Spoiler

Why do people suddenly forget about the enemy tanks they were presently engaging, completely ignore them, turn around and ensure the flank collapses? If you see a few of your allies have turned around do not turn with them. In doing so you unhinge the entire flank. I've lost count of the times I have turned around to engage a new threat, held them off and then suddenly started getting shot in the arse because my allies have also turned around and left us exposed.

Because everyone is playing by rule no:1 in WOT: Trust no one but yourself (unfortunately this is also true for players who really should trust everyone except themselves, players like that usually don't know that they actually don't know what to do, even though they think they do... in fact making this game what it is), making everyone react to the biggest threat.

I tried to do the opposite in a similar situation yesterday, holding a loosing flank as long as possible, and was yelled at because I did NOT disengage and help, knowing we would die anyway and by not helping out we actually held longer. Lost the flank but won the battle.

Probably because the majority of WOT players have 2 brain cells, one is used for breathing etc and the other is focused on the screen, it can't handle more than 2 bits of information at a time.

You just showed how a lemming fail works 9 out 10 times. 10 vs 5 and they push it slamming into everything like a big asteroid all the way up the 8 line. Then they see 2 tanks near your base, and 5 of them leave the group. Now the 5 remaining is not slamming into everything like a big asteroid. They haven now been broken up into several smaller rocks, that bounce off their bigger asteroid reacting to your lemmings. And suddenly the 5 that left to defend base... are left alone.

The punishment should be harsher.

This is much better than balance by skill.

Skill balanced mm would literally kill this game. Look at how 'fun' it is to play skirmishes and advanced these days....

And also look how good was skill balanced mm for AW..

Because the average player in this game has the tactical insight of a brick, that is why.....

It's because Wargaming rewards being average almost just as much as being great so there is no incentive to improve.

My take is that ~90-95% of WOT playerbase have no clue about teamwork, or just say that teamwork doesn't exist, and thus treat this game as some 1v29 game instead of a 15v15 game.

There is teamwork in WoT, and your example explains why in a pretty easy to grasp manner.
