WG did an april joke some time ago about modern tanks and even futuristic tanks

Now dont get me wrong Im not saying that Id like to see futuristic tanks in the game soon, but we all know there is a clear limit on how many tanks were designed in the time from WW1 to the 1960s and all of us know that these are coming to an end, even if its still 2 years of WW2 tanks, there will be an end

So either WG keeps us busy with new maps or new modes, even though we all know how good those were so far, or they will have to jump up in their time zone of tank development and get closer to modern tanks

They either have to get something in between tier 10 and the most modern tanks (if they go up to tier 13 for example) or they have to get a barrier between tier 10 and 11, tier 10 still being the highest tier but you can research tier 11 and so on

It would be a lot of work but to be honest at some point it may become necessary

Jokes aside, I think the lack of 'modern' features is what makes WoT rather popular. Might break too much with the game mechanics and balance. Barrier could sure work, but I doubt the game engine's up to the task. When it becomes a matter of cost vs. uncertain return ...I dunno.

War Thunder might be the obvious alternative for modern stuff, though no real idea on how well it's implemented. Mostly into air battles, but I know jets are so broken and overpowered compared to props make mincemeat out of inexperienced, tier-rushing noobs me

SerB will keep finding blueprints in the back door and if not they will just "find" some sketch in the tank archives or simple do the "switch turret between hulls and mount them on the front, middle or rear" thing for some variation. How many modern tanks do we have nowadays? Those with tracks that is...wheeled vehicles with guns or rocket launchers don't count.

It could be interesting, but..........

Imagine the uproar if they introduced vehicles like the Bradley, with TOW missiles, and its Chain Gun (300 rounds per minute). Could be a problem with super accurate guns, insta-kills, firing from hidden locations. Maps would need to be much larger than they are now for a start. Players would expect every shot to hit and destroy. Modern warfare might be just too technically good for this sort of game.

I wouldn't be surprised at all that's already worked on and part of a contingency plan. Bottom line, when WoT starts declining in a very noticeable way, they'll plug that in, in an attempt to revert it.

Many (all?) of the tanks in the game are out of copyright, introduce something like a Bradley or M1 Abrams and the price of the game will increase significantly, and possibly no longer free to play, because WG would need to buy the rights to use the image and name. You don't imagine all those cars in Grand Theft Auto are used for free do you?

I may have the details a bit skewed here as I wasn't playing at the time, but AFAIK the IS-7 and Maus were the first/only tier 10 vehicles in the game, then it got to the point where every nation had a tier 10, then every nation had a tier 10 on every line.

If you add tier 11 the same thing will happen except that it will be a total mess because the tanks will either be overpowered to hell (compared to tier 9/10) and require +0/-0 MM to work, or they will all be underpowered shadows of their real self for the benefit of balance.

I.E tanks like the T-62, the T-10, the FV215b-183 should realistically be tier 11 anyway but are super nerfed in game to stop them roflstomping everything they meet.  You would either have to do the same with the actual tier 11 tanks to stop them annihilation tier 10s, or make them weak in which case why even have tier 11.  It's a catch 22.

WG can't be arsed solving the issues it has now so I can't see any thing radically new on the horizon.

Plus - DU shells as prem ammo?

They can add modern tanks, but, in a separate battle, only for and with modern tanks separate tech tree, and they can allow only to players that have researched all other tanks to play them. But this mean another game, so, it's hard to believe that we will play modern tanks. But, old tanks are funny

WG stated that they´re working on wheeled vehicles, so I guess that is their next big thing before modern tanks.

In fact, in WW2, many countries have used wheeled vehicles. Best german lights where wheeled, same for USSR and england, best american TD's and SPG's where wheeled...

Don't see how they could implement wheeled vehicles when the game is called world of tanks.

An AC is not a tank.

They did used some ACs during WW2. However the majoirty of them were garbage and all could be penetrated by most sub machine guns, while only carrying a 37mm gun themselves. Hardly useful and certainly none of them were "the best"

2 years lol

games been out 7 years and they have not even finished with the German, Russian and American tanks yet,

still a long way to go on the British and French tanks,

and they've barely started the Japanese, Chinese, Polish, and Swedish tanks,

they have not even started the Italian tanks yet not to mention other countries.

Problem is those aren't tanks anymore by definition. Also i would love to see how they would make the tracking mechanics. :)

They would probably be fun to use but not on such a small battlefield where your vehicle already falls apart when a tank points it's gun at you. They would need to be way larger to allow for real maneuvering.

Well in fairness tanks don't work without the drive wheels :P

The word 'tank' was a code word used to suggest a water carrier, I don't see any water carriers on the battlefield.
