Afternoon all... first the obligatory moderator please don't move or delete text.  WG is ACE, a fantastic company - really pleased with the new MM... blah blah

Go on then sprout lovers for the last few years I've cooked this one big fat juicy sprout recipe on the big day and it's great.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbjgkY9AgBw

Want to try something different this year, but hesitant to muck it up.

Any sprout lovers have a 'to die for' sprout recipe for Christmas lunch?

Just found one I'm making on boxing day.

Nitcat home for the link but chop them in half place in a oven dish cover with a little cream and some white wine.  Sprinkle pre fried bacon bits and crushed walnuts over top and grate some gruyerre of other cheese on the top then bake for 30-40 mins

I like to put a little right-hand spin on them as I flip them into the bin where they belong before opening another bottle...

My mother put them on my plate every Xmas visit....

I've only been binning them for the last 44 years, But apparently all plates need to be uniform...

Clearly 2 of us on this topic have sophisticated palettes and 2 don't.

If your mouth ain't watering after watching that video then sadly you are beyond rescue.

Bit of gruyerre melted on them sounds quite good to be honest.

Ahhh ummm.. nothing governor nothing

I am absolutely not trying to get this thread to stay in the high traffic gameplay zone rather than no one goes there off topic zone.

If WG love sprouts, they'd let the community swap recipes - honest they would :)

Sprouts were created by Satan to torture children.  Perfidious marketing as "healthy".  I call global conspiracy.

Oh dear lord, what on earth happened to you as a child my son?

You cannot have XMas lunch without sprouts.  It is the law.

Hmm :sceptic:

Sprouts are delicious.

Brocollis are delicious.

Cucumbers are delicious. And you can even hit people with it = bonus points.

You need to learn to enjoy more green food :P

Just look at all these

If you overcook sprouts or any other cabbage vegetable for that matter, you run the risk of the infamous flatulent afterparty.

Just cook them so they still have some bite (and flavour) left and you'll be fine

Of course, you can always save those sprouts from the Chrimbo dinner and use them the next day for bubble n' squeak like I do  ;)

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp duck
    Duck

     fat, goose fat or butter
  • 4 rashers of streaky bacon
    Bacon

    , chopped
  • onion
    Onion

    , finely sliced
  • 1 garlic clove, chopped
  • 15-20 cooked Brussels sprouts
    Brussels sprouts

, sliced, or leftover boiled cabbage, shredded
  • 400g cold leftover mashed potato
    Potato

, or cold crushed boiled potatoes

Method

  1. Melt the fat in a non-stick pan, allow it to get nice and hot, then add the bacon. As it begins to brown, add the onion and garlic.

  2. Next, add the sliced sprouts or cabbage and let it colour slightly. All this will take 5-6 mins.

  3.

  4. Next, add the potato. Work everything together in the pan and push it down so that the mixture covers the base of the pan – allow the mixture to catch slightly on the base of the pan before turning it over and doing the same again. It’s the bits of potato that catch in the pan that define the term ‘bubble and squeak’, so be brave and let the mixture colour. Cut into wedges and serve.

Your sir, are the Devil incarnate :) I hasten to add that I eat just about every other vegetable...

Whelks are another personal hatred of mine - once saw a recipe for shredded sprout and whelk bubble and squeak - the barf was in my mouth watching such a vile confection !

I see you have time to post memes on forum. NOt busy with your 'hard earned' vacation?

How about you go and take a look at the 'Announcements' section of this forum and answer some pressing questions about this game, about the bugs we are currently experiencing.

Or at least tell us in what year are you gonna fix the damn chat.......2020 maybe??
