All the tier 8 tanks that you could get by opening boxes have also now appeared in the Advent Calendar with today the Skorpion to add to the list. Which leaves the Type-59. But a coincidence, or is it a plan?

highly doubt that, but who knows, its wargaming after all.

Coincidence. WG still has a flimsy excuse as of now, as they outright stated "Type 59 will not be sold again" - they´re weasling their way around this by technically only giving it away as a lucky bonus, not as a direct purchase, and I´m pretty sure they´ll keep it that way. Plus, giving out the 59 for direct purchase would eleminate one of the main draws of the paid loot boxes, so... don´t get your hopes up.

This is where it gets complicated. I got a Type-59 in a loot box, but equally somebody may have been after a Skorpion and so spent far more buying loot boxes than they would have by waiting for it to appear in the Advent Calendar. It also calls into question 'when is a game of chance not a game of chance'? You can buy it for £33 or you can win it for £83.

I asked this question the other day ...

Question ... if the Type 59 was put up for a one-day sale after Christmas, would you buy it (assuming you didn't get one in boxes)?

If you got one from a box, how would you feel seeing it on sale?

Just wondering because I'm not sure. On one hand, I really want one. On the other, I played my boxes and didn't get lucky, the only other money I'm planning to spend on games this year is when the T-61 goes on sale in the Warships shop.

It would seem you have a higher chance of getting a Type if you buy 25 or 75 boxes but I'm not buying any more, I have enough gold and prem days to last me a good while. Although I saw a video yesterday about Christmas boxes coming to Warships (NA in the vid) so I might be tempted to buy some on the first day they're available simply because we all know that's how these things are seeded.

No, it won't...they specifically said they won't SELL it...it can still be won through competitions and events...as these loot boxes are an event on wot, because they are here for a limited period for a special occasion...and won...because you are not 100% guaranteed to get/buy a type 59 by just buying/opening a loot box...so technically...and surprisingly wg kept their promise...but just found another way around it...so short..no, they won't ever sell it again.

WG knows that more and more people are starting to realise just how useless the Type 59 has become due to power creep and that it's not good enough anymore to be given out as the "ultimate prize" - they now have the Defender for this purpose.

From WOT Dev Q&A :

"I can say that while I remain Director of Development of WoT, Type 59 will not be returned to the market."

M6A2E1, no longer worthy of a buff, power creeped, notice anything else that is similar to a Type-59?

Nah, remaining 3 are likely the IS-2, 59-patton (rumored) and on 24th, the new VK 168.01 Mauerbecher.

No, the 59-Patton will be the one coming and the IS-2B and the Maurbrecher, those are the remaining tanks.

That makes sense and is also disappointing. Guess I've been playing long enough to feel jaded about the advent sales, that's a little bit sad.

Which would you choose: the Type 59 or the 59-Patton?

There is always a chance that the LTs he wants go on sale AFTER the Advent Calender ends...

Yeah me as well, but I guess I should have known in advance that WG would not sell them because WG hates light tanks, especially in the hands of good players.

Oh well, #WalletClosed for me it is then, will not be extending my premium account either like I've done every year until now.

Both are very "meh" if you ask me but if I had to choose? Probably the 59-Patton because it has 212mm pen on the standard ammo meaning you don't have to load the gold as much as in the Type59 with it's 181mm.

I rarely play my Type59 as it's really not that good of a tank, sure the gun handling buffs helped but it's not mobile enough for my taste, it's too sluggish to go around and up hills.

They are going to sell the Maurbrecher for one day?
