Because you're better than that?

No naming and shaming is a rule on the forum simply because it's easy to make unsubstantiated accusations. Rather than deal with hundreds of threads every day, the mods impose a blanket rule so that threads like this don't pop up all the time as there's nothing we can do about them except say, "oooh, how dreadfully crass".

If someone insults you in game, it's usually because they're frustrated and lack the necessary language skills to express their frustrations without falling into clichés. I generally feel sorry for them and try to help by prompting them to continue their tirade, which I then award points for. That doesn't seem to calm them down very much but I find it entertaining.

I have a few simple rules that I abide by.

1. I dont get involved in arguements or insults on chat.

2. If I see something offensive in chat I simply report it and move on.

3. I dont come to the forum to complain, not because others here dont agree, but because I know they can do nothing about it.

This is a game involving complete strangers. People you will never meet, and people you are unlikely to team up with again. You will never know who they really are, all you will ever see is their nickname. Some of those people are nice, some are not. If you allow yourself to get wound up by them, you are going to end up with a lot of anger and stress for no good reason. This is going to spoit your experience of the game, and a game is meant to be for fun, for entertainment, and as a way to let off steam and relax. It takes you away from everyday life. Learn to shrug your shoulders and move on, knowing that you are a better person than that idiot you met in an internet game.

It is funny that no sanctions are taken against the offenders while naming and shaming gets sanctioned.

Personally, I think If good evidence can be supplied, naming and shaming should be allowed.

alienslive.  Your comment one of those, "It's the internet" comments?  You realise people used the same excuse for bad behaviour for thousands of years?  It's only witches.  It's only Jews.  It's only Women.  Time to realise you live in the 21st century guy.

It saddens me that such simple insults are used in place of more elaborate ones. Is this signs of the decline of the English language?

you are talking about

Another day in WOT Admins needed so hard

and yet you add to their work by breaking the forum rules on naming and shaming, now not only do they have to deal with whoever it was you reported in-game they also have to deal with you.

Both round. Both fruit. What more do you want in similarities?

Not one to get offended myself, but there's really no need to attack the person who does get offended. Personally, I don't get offended by much (only the word Moist :sceptic:) but other people are different to myself. It's one thing to differ in thickness of skin, it's entirely another to condone behaviour which is completely out of order.

Just my opinion.
