With the discounts now available to me from tier II to VI through the Christmas Atmosphere Level I am wondering which tank line to apply them to.

I started off playing the Swedish lines when I first joined WoT. Since then I am working may way through the British SPG line and Heavy Line, the American Light Line and then Chinese Tank Destroyer line. I enjoy the different play style and as you have probably guess have not chosen the easiest or best lines, more the ones I liked of the look off. I am still getting to grips with my current tanks so not looking to start playing the line, but realise I need to make a choice sooner rather than later so that I don't lose the discounts.

After reading the varying words of wisdom(?) on the forum I thought it would be good to hear which line would offer me a different play style to the ones I am already following?

You can use the discounts on seperate lines if needed. I used the tier II to VII discounts on random tanks i've sold in the past that I either wanted as keepers, or wanted to have another go in, I used the tier VIII discount to rebuy the IS-3 for team battles and strongholds, and then I used the IX and X discounts to get the M46 Patton which I had unlocked and was saving to buy and the M48 Patton I haven't unlocked yet.

Use them on any line you're currently grinding to get to the tier X.

Or if you don't want to be bothered by planning ahead too much, just buy and sell random tanks which you've researched. For tier 2-6 I've done this. As long as you don't plan to keep the tanks you've bought on discount this will give you the same overall credit savings. For tiers 7-9 (and 10 when missions reset) I've just selected the nearest in line that I cannot reasearch before current discount is over.

I cannot advise you much on interesting lines, as I've mostly sticked to the common lines. Personally I enjoy the French autoloaders.

If you have the discounts from last year, keep in mind they don't pile up.

I already have the Chinese TDs to tier VI and used the discounts for VII to X on the American Light line as I am currently on the T37.

I had thought about the buy / sell route but decided I would like to use the discounts for a single line.

It is really good that we have you to tell us all which tank lines are valid and which are not. WG should give you a medal or something. The game obviously would not survive without your great wisdom. :sceptic:

OP says "I started off playing the Swedish lines when I first joined WoT" - decent heavies from tier VIII onwards

OP says "Since then I am working may way through the British SPG line" = DO NOT play this class.

OP says "Since then I am working may way through the British  Heavy Line" = this line has been subject of recent buffs. Play it NOW.

OP says "the American Light Line" - lights have been badly served by the addition of tier X's which are under powered. Do not play them until they get buffed.

OP says "Chinese Tank Destroyer line" = TD's rather passive gameplay.

would therefore recommend;

(a) USSR heavy tanks - you need to feel the strength of Stalinium armour, and see what happens when your shells are guided by the hand of Lenin

(b) USSR mediums - because the best tanks in the whole game.

Edited to make it clearer that I was attempting to quote the OP line by line and answer each query.

No I started on the Swedish line when I joined PC WoT in Dec 2016. I do like a challenge, even if I can't always master that challenge.

Ah I see the problem. Wellsley misquoted. It seemed like he was saying he started with the Swedish tanks....
