So, like every year from the beginning of the game, i'm returning to WoT for the winter (I spend very little computer time in summer). I had an awesome surprise, Tier 3 matchmaking.

I was allways a Tier 2 player because the matchmaking, but as the only maps being Winter Himmelsdorf, Mines (Mines is awesome, was awesome when it's name was Pagorki, too) and Mittengarden (sucks), and occasionally Ruinberg, the fun was over. Last two winters i took a ride on the soviet and german TD branches Tier 6, not such a fun ride. So, over last winters, my WoT time reduced. Still was fun, but not that fun.

Now Tier 3 became an even better ever version of Tier 2 ever. Old Tier 2 on steroids. Nice matchmaking, fast battles, plenty of maps. I still prefere to use TD's, so I'm there with Marder II, SU-76M and M3G FT. I prefere wide open maps, Mines, Malinovka and Prokhorovka (Fiery Salient). Fast battles, variety of vehicles, from superfast autocannon annoyng Panzer I C to heavy B2, small artys and low profile small TD's, or well balanced tanks like Pz III. Fast and fun battles, not too much teamwork, a good place for a TD sniper to be in. Very little battle rage, no lemmings trains, just plain fun.

So, what is your opinion about the Tier 3 gameplay? I find it awesome, better than previous Tier 2 battles, more maps, more vehicles, same well balanced matchmaking, less sealclubbing (although sealclubbing is nice and fun :) ).

Let's just say I am very happy I bought Großtraktor-Krupp when it was on sale earlier this year.

Tier 3 would be glorious if it only haven't limited map rotation.

Tier three, where people hang out while tier 8 mm is underwhelming :)

Got me the Traktor as well :)

So relaxing - and it is the only tier except for tier 9 that only sees +1 tier - well, the pref tanks are really sweet atm as well :)

I'm not sure courage is a prerequisite to play a tank game.

As for tier 3, I still have all my freemiums so I often play there.

I mean I can kind of understand it.

I'm rubbish as the stats in the signature attest but the 6 games I've had in my free T-29 I'm rocking a 100% win rate and a WN8 of 2359.

Kind of proves that I should not be playing at that tier and if I do I'm simply ruining the fun of people who are new to the game and trying to progress.  I feel as bad playing there as I do when I play tier X and I'm so bad it ruins the game for my team mates!

My tier 3 Valentine AT is one of the best tanks I've ever played, it just can't win games. Lack of mobility at tier 3 is rather crippling. But yeah, games are much faster, more exciting. You feel like you get more of a game at higher tiers due to tanks being tougher, but you constantly have to face behemoths that are out of your league. The only real problem with tiers 1-4 are seal clubbers. Why is someone with 25,000 games and 1500 WN8 playing in tier 2?

EDIT: And autoloading machines guns of guaranteed doom. The Panzer IC spam is out of control.

My favourite t3 is the LTP. Can't help myself, absolutely loved the tank from the get go. Have the T-127 too but it can't do what the LTP does.

There's no such thing as sealclubbing anymore anyways.

I use free xp to skip tier 2-4.

I get so fckng annoyed when I want to go through these tanks fast and cheap... Playing with 50% crew, no equipment and stock tank is no fun at all and I refuse to spend credits below tier 5. To get outspotted, gold spammed and statpadded at tier 2-4 is just awful. Rather spend my free xp there than on a tier 9 module.

Tier III is something Wargaming hasn't touched, since the balance department was replaced and it's glorious.

Wonder why...

But yes, I love playing tier III. Altough I don't have any non-gift tier III tanks, I'd love to get my M3 Light back somehow :(

The premium T-29 has ruined Tier 3 it's so unfair!

I recently thought long and hard about using the free gift token to buy- and keep- another tier III. It took a little while to decide to say no. I have the SU-76M, the Marder II, the Pz I C (which never seems to work except in platoons) and the BT-7 Artillery. I play these when I have those days when you start to tell yourself to go and play with Lego.

Seal clubbing? How do you figure that? There are plenty of experienced players on both sides- and more on the enemy side just as often. The teams are often so stupid that you get results like I had earlier today- THREE team kills and a final score of 0<15. I challenge unicums to do well in the face of that level of stupidity. Next battle I had four kills, but the other 14 members of my team couldn't manage the other 11.

It isn't plain sailing down in tier III, but it is a lot better now that you don't see tier V. The funny thing is, however, I have had much better matches against tier V. Like this one. Cue shameless self-promotion.

I also had this awesome match in the face of utter stupidity.

Low tiers are crap IMO. There's not enough health to really go around and especially since most players are new there's just a whole lot of yoloing, which tends to leave either the new players who are too scared of action that they found a cozy bush at the redline and sat in it all-game, or the sealclubbers with max viewrange at that tier who similarly are camping in a bush somewhere waiting for the next tank to pop up on their radar.

I played last night some tier V battles. The skill level on both sides was just terrifying. As were the tanks. I've seen lots of T67, Panzer IV H and such. Maybe there were some newbies, but a lot of very skilled players too.
