Short history lesson: Years ago, WG used to pretend there was no such thing as bots. They'd strenously deny that it was even possible to even bot in the game due to some magic stronk code. Even when people started linking thread from bot program forums, they denied it. They weren't bots, they were just really bad players, or disabled, or had poor internet, or something. Even when said bad players were churning out 150+ games per day, they weren't bots - they were bad players with chronic insomnia and nothing else to do with their time.

Eventually, a video appeared of an RU cluster player on the old Northwest map playing late one night. His entire team seemed AFK. Even stranger, none of the enemy team appeared. He drives to enemy cap, and suddenly gets rushed by 15 tanks who were all inactive in spawn until he was spotted, at the very same time his team of AFKers suddenly woke up. This smoking gun was picked up by the CCs, and finally WG admitted there might be bots... in some rare circumstances. Possibly.

In the end, RU cluster seemed to get a fairly active anti-bot thing going, in conjunction with the mods/cheats system (the whole aimbot, object destruction marker, etc cheat mods thing followed the same basic PR path as bots). EU, however, kinda fluffed about and made some noises, but never really seemed to get on it - usually claiming that they were dealing with bots, but couldn't tell us about it because EU anonymity laws preventing them naming players.

So, years later, with all the anti-bot and anti-cheat systems apparently in place, I present to you this particular player

Edited.

Take a look - he's a bot. I know he's a bot because he did what bots usually do - drove 400m from spawn, sat in a bush with no LOS to anything, rotated his turret constantly for 10 minutes, and did absolutely nothing else until the endgame when enemy closed in. On Malinovka. That's not the important bit though... nor is his appalling global WR... or anything else about his stats.

No, my gripe here is his username.

Notice it? At some point, Billy Bot here has accumulated so many reports from so many pissed off teammates that it's flagged with WG. Quick as a flash, they've changed his username. No problem that he'll have been farming AFK/Bot reports, or Unsportsmanlike, or anything else. Someone, somewhere, has looked at the account and thought nothing more than to reset username.

Great. Job. Working as intended. Nothing to see here.

Anyone from WG:EU care to give us the current non-statement regarding anti-bot measures?

Maybe it's a testbot from WG themselves to check how well the anti-bot code is working? And you just blew his cover. This is not going to end well for someone.

They turned down your request for a new hamster wheel in the garage again, didn't they?

If you have a system that can 100% detect every bot instantly and take action with 100% accuracy with no fails or false bans Then give it to WG. As that's the issue. They don't have it.  So some bad apples will still fall past it. Regardless how "good" the current system is.

Issue with the bot system is that even tho they more or less removed all of the idle bot and waypoint bot at high tiers we did see 10 of a day back in 2012/13. They did not ban every single one of them the first time. So most got past with a warning. And thus they had 40K games with no clue how to play it still and suddenly had to play normally to get ahead. For all we know, he might be one of them. That or it's an old bot account that's been sold on Ebay, with a player that has even less of a clue how to play. As most "new" or clueless players are "bot" passive. Regardless to what happens on such accounts. And drags it down even further.

And atm.. WG don't ban players for being clueless or just bad. Regardless of how bot like their style of play is. Unless you can prove it's a bot. As I'm sure that's their current standard. Going by ticket responses that is.

Is that a screenshot of PER's alt account perhaps?
