Hi @ all,

I never really played arty, but because I want to finally finish the campaign for the Obj. 260 and in 2018 I want to try to finish to unlock every researchable tank (that means for me the missing arties) I started to play arty in the last weeks.

In the last days I finally reached the higher tiers (German and Soviet T8).

Now I am not sure which guns to use:

- 170mm or 210mm on GW Tiger P

- 152mm or 203 mm on SU-14-2

Atm it feels better for me to play the smaller caliber guns as I get more shots out and thus have more chances "to do something". This might be because I often take bad shots (my target selection and opportunity selection still suck pretty hard, I guess)... But I don't want to manifest a bad play style if the other (big caliber) guns are better if I just pick my shots more wisely.

So which are the guns arty veterans would recommend?:

I didn't really find many other discussions about this topic which are from "post stun mechanic introduction" era besides

http://forum.worldof...n#entry15214020

So is the lower caliber usually gun a viable option or is alpha king?

Best regards,

DrP3pp3r

Depends what you want them for...if you want them for actual grinding...F U...if you want for missions...then it's simple...if your mission requires a lot of stun time...and or xp...use small gun...as you get more shots out and can stun more often...if your mission requires damage or stun multiple targets with one shot...get the big gun...if you want to play for lols and stress relief from being targeted by scumbags in arty...play with the small gun and counter arty more accurately.

You want to do missions for stuns assist and stun timers, take the low caliber one. As then you want ROF over damage. You want module damage, damage or group stuns. As in the mission to stun 3 at the same time etc. Take the large caliber one. As I just did the M53/54 grind. And used the stock gun most of the time. To get most of the Obj missions related to stun timers out of the way with honors.

Arty haters, they are like flies on poop...

But seriously.

The French tier X Arty used to be amazing!

Now it is utterly useless.

Best line is the American one now from my point of view.

The American tier 9, was always considered the best arty tier for tier in the game.

Though I think due to the tier 8 having the same pen but only slightly less dpm I personally think that is the better tier for tier now.

(or the Russian tier 8)

It's accuracy is just good enough.

Big guns are definitely the way.

Good luck!   :arta:

Nar...

I just could be bothered to learn how to play the whole game!

I play all the classes...

Because I do!

I do not screem like a baby when I get hit by arty!          WAAAAAAAA!  :arta:

But then again, I do not get hit by arty much!

Cos because I learned the whole game!  I learned how to not get hit so much.

Unlike the lazy whining babies that like to blame everyone else but themselves for their own lack of knowledge & skill...

If they removed arty the haters would just switch to hating TD's.

They are just pathetic!

The only players that I feel sorry for are the unicums that get arty focused so much.

They at least have a good argument!

I prefer the smaller guns as they fire faster which means you can track/stun more and be of more use to your team.

I prefer a better ROF, then you are reacting to the frontline and that's tactically useful,

rather than one big dump on the slow tank, when you aren't going to do any real damage anyway.

But imagine repeatedly stunning the guy trying to flank your team, no one else may have a shot except you.

Well, it is rather suggestive. For me, the big gun is the way to go. Better splash, pen and damage.

then again, I'm biased cos I'm an M43 player, and while I'd gladly grind another arty, I'm currently upgrading my new waffle tier 9 and having a break

Got exactly that conundrum right now.

Just unlocked Tier IX US and in every way, the lower calibre gun looks superior - I just can't decide.

Basicly it is just this. Just look at the missions and decide what gun or even what arty suits the mission best.

I'd ram people with arty if it stunned them. :P
