Hello all,

Here is my proposal to introduce rocket artillery in WoT.

Soviet Union tech tree will get the Katyusha M-30-4 (4 x 300mm HE rockets) at tier 9 and Katyusha M-31-8 (8 x 300mm HE rockets) at tier 10.

Germany tech tree will get the Nebelwerfer 41 (6 x 280mm HE rockets) at tier 9 and the Nebelwerfer 42 (6 x 300mm HE rockets) at tier 10.

Below you can see a picture of my proposal.

Basically, the aiming circle will be X times bigger than the normal SPG aiming circle where X = number of rockets fired.

The rockets impact pattern within the aiming circle is affected by RNG (random deviation for each rocket from an initial standard pattern).

Rocket splash radius, rocket damage, firing interval between rockets (between 1 to 5 secs), rate of fire and rocket trails visibility (more visible than normal SPG's) need to be tweaked by WG in order to balance it.

All feedback welcome and please be constructive...:)

Best regards.

P.S. - After comparing the several different rocket impact circles patterns with the impact circle of G.W. E 100 (second image below) I realize that with proper balancing, rocket artillery will not have such a bigger impact in-game (as many think) when compared with normal SPG unless maybe against a dense concentration of enemy tanks (a nice feature, imho!).

Nooo thank you. This is the worst idea I've ever seen suggested for wot.

Yes please!

...If you give all artillery and rocket launchers some special game mode called APVB (arty players vs bots), they don't have to tell anyone it's bots and you can even borrow nicknames from random people who are online, so they get some xvm stats, then throw in the occasional insult in chat and some hot-tempered map pinging and noone will notice the difference!

Only if they have a 5 minute reload time and can only shoot Type 4 / 5 heavies and enemy arty. All other tanks the arty attempts to shoots it misfires and kills itself.

The Americans also had their versions. The Brits used the American built Sherman variant, plus had their own Sherman and Cromwell variants fitted with Tulip Air to Ground rockets. Basically one shot for purposes of WoT though, and they effectively have completely exposed ammo racks. One shell to the tubes and BOOM.

No thanks. Would be incredible boring to play and even more frustrating for all other players involved (on both teams).

God no, arty in it's current form is just bad let alone creating more of this kind of play.

It works in WT due to the way the game works, and how much larger the maps are. As they are not easy to use on targets 1km away. But in WOT considering how most maps work? Why just not run a Sherman Derp vs a Calliope? It would not work at all most of the time. I mean taking that tank out and getting Himmelsdorf. And the few maps it would work on. It would ruin more then it would fix already.

Would be cool, but... no, thanks.
If we have proper maps and a proper gamebalance we can talk again, but until then, burn those ideas with fire.

Oh yes please, can see new perk/skill for loader....

Light blue touch paper, 70% trained would use a damp box of matches, 100% trained would use Zippo lighter, 120% and above would have electronic gas lighter....

Hey why don't we just introduce ATGMs. In that way you would be relieved of that great effort which you have to make now -  moving your cursor a bit to actually aim at something.

Wonder how did this idiocy came across your mind...

Why not both? The caliope was just a frame with tubes attached to the outside of the turret. The tanks main gun was not affected....

It would be like airstrikes which already are in the game and very unfun.

The problem with the idea is that rockets are not single shot they are a barrage weapon, against a group of tanks or blindfiring into an area they would be quite effective.

Then there would have to be a very long reload or the effect would be far too powerful.

If you had the realistic reload time its about an hour so making them a one use weapon in game.

You could not use it anywhere near friendly tanks, and there would be a problem when it comes to capping because you could probably reset the cap with such a barrage something standard arty is unable to do except by pure luck.

I would be interested in knowing the firing arc most of the images I have see they are not fired up at a steep angle like a howitzer but more like a direct fire weapon.

The katyusha rocket had a 10 pound warhead so what would that be for damage and penetration assuming one hit on target.

I would be willing to get this to game...

...if WG also adds a "No arty" config setting in the game.

Fair trade, I would say.
