I don't think anyone would fall for this, but I tried the code on WG's code redeem and it didn't work. Looked at the link (didn't open it) and it feels scammy as hell.

You can see my first reaction in the chat, because I see "I gifted you gold etc." and didn't read the rest and started typing "THANKS OMG OMG" and so on :teethhappy:

..But then I saw the link structure and saw the code didn't work on the main site and yeeeeah, I don't know how about you, but i'm not falling for 3rd party sites.

It's not just giving someone your password like the tips say. You join a bad link sent to you by someone salty you just killed, or someone on your team being discontent, that you didnt drive where he ordered you to and you're gonna get yourself hacked.

Also, the guy never replied, which is another hint.

EDIT: Don't want to name and shame, so I'll edit the pic

You can try the link if you want to risk it :P (Not recommended)

It's good to spread awareness on this.

And indeed: only codes redeemable on the WG main site are real, everything else is just a way to scam folks. This includes practically all third party offers on WG goodies as well.

It's a direct link to a file:
http://goo.gl/7xnZqS expands to https://doc-08-24-do...Rmst?e=download
(http://www.checkshor....com/expand.php is handy)

The file at the end of this is "WOT Free Exchange.rar"

https://www.virustot...129d5/detection
No viruses at least

Inside the rar is a  exe and a readme.txt.

The readme says:

Block Quote

WOT Free Exchange - give gold, or other gifts.

To get a gift.

1. Open the program and select "get a gift".
2. Enter your nickname and the code that you sent.
3. Get ready for your gift in your account.

But yeah. Not touching that exe without a disposable VM.

Maybe someone can report the scam to Google and see if they'll take any action?

Why so overly careful? If you don't try that link you'll never get the gold!

Excuse me now, i have to transfer 10k $ to a oversea account. Aparently, i inherited 45million dollars from a uncle nobody in my family know we had.

And as soon i transfer the 10k dollars (which is a security fee or something) i'm gonna be filthy rich!

Yep yep...download a random executable that is placed in a random rar to get a gift. Totally legit. Doesn't keylog or anything, I bet.

It sounds like it could be a typical 'pyramid scheme' where the people who start it get rich, and when it collapses the poor mugs who think they will get rich actually get nothing.

Most people do not realise that gullible is just a made up word.  Created by pyramid scammers in the 1800's.
