Hello there

I´m currently trying to grind the Object 430 line before the next patch and I´m working on the Object 430 II. Before I unlock it though, my question is - which gun should I use? Stock gun or the upgraded gun? Note that I have unlocked the top gun already via the T-54, so XP cost is not a concern.

The stock gun seems to have the advantage in accuracy, handling and dpm, while the top gun only gets a bit more pen and better shell velocity. So the stock gun actually seems superior, or am I missing something?

I use the stock one, and have had no issues with it. Sure it's "only" 201 pen. But the top one can't hit the broad side of a barn most times if you use it at mid to long range. Tho the stock one has a slower shell speed and only gets about half a sec faster reload. So about 150 more dpm in my setup. And when you face a fellow 430 II that uses the high pen gun, you notice it when you get in a brawl with them.

As a medium sure. But then again, most don't play it like a medium. As it has more camo when firing then most tier 8 TD's.

I already finished the obj430-2 grind when i realized stock gun was better, better aiming time and dispersion and only slightly worse dpm. And usually it's the case if you can't pen with stock pen, then you won't with other gun as well so it's better to fire heat.

Crap? It's one of the best tier 8 mediums. Light tank gun handling, tier 10 gold ammo, best DPM in class, low profile?

Looks like this grind is gonna be expensive. But oh well still better than starting at tier 5 again after the patch.

One of the best tier VIII mediums in game, if not the very best. As said above it does not really play much like any other medium.

People have already mentioned this, but it really isn't. 416 is a great tank, though an aquired taste. Also, how is this relevant to the OP's question?

I've been using the big gun on the 430II and I've found it ok, but I'll give the stock gun a go later after the other replies. As for the 416 I didn't 'get it' first time around, second time around with full camo crew and it is fantastic, drive around like you've got a permanent cam net activated, and a great gun. I play mine a bit more like a very mobile TD than a medium but it can do both roles with ease.

Well, given how 219 pen doesnt reliably pen t8 heavies these days and cant pen t9 and t10 heavies in weakspots, might as well use the 200 pen gun because youll spam heat all the time anyway and the stock gun is then way better.

It's not a question about pen. It's if you want to hit anything at all. And the 219 pen gun really don't, not even close up it feels like. So pen is useless if you can't hit nothing but air.

I unashamedly gold noobed it.

Use the stock gun if you have a few premiums you can play to fund it.

You will have to press 2 a lot though...

It really pays off having the better gun handling when firing on the move.

Good luck

just finished the obj 416 grind, absolutely loved that tank, didnt even feel like a grind lol. Ive never played a medium with such a awesome gun for its tier, its basically just a td which is way more adaptable than normal td:s. Also works like a charm as close range fire support in cities, just wait until the enemy put a round into your friend, and throw you [edited]out and give him some love.

That´s pretty much what I´m doing, and I´m doing okay so far. While the 416 was my first though, my new flame, the Lorraine 40T, overshadows it quite drastically as far as tier 8 mediums go.

Use the stock gun, aside from better handling & DPM, it's also over half a ton lighter, meaning you can mount upgraded turret, engine & three pieces of equipment on the stock tracks.

That´s actually a really good tip. Are the upgraded tracks worth it after that or should I skip them outright when grinding for the 430?

Stock gun has better gun handling, accuracy and dpm. Pen difference is minor and HEAT will solve the problem. So the stock gun is the better option

As wargaming didnt buff the same gun on 430 II that is now great on T54, for whatever reason, stick with a stock gun as on 430 it seems like its not nerfed.
