Hi, me and my friend are discussing if i would have a better hit rate if i had as many battles as him.

He has 61% https://worldoftanks...7525-Lasse6710/

And i have 57%  https://worldoftanks...-mortenbrun123/

He has around 5400 battles, i have 9800.

He says he has better hit rate, yes he does on paper, but if i were to have the same battles as him.. I'd have better hit rate than him wouldn't i?

How would you calculate it? He also has alot of tier 1 games / tier 2, with 1 battle and 100% hit ratio.

Im pretty sure im right in this, but how do u calculate it?

Thanks!

<3

The amount of battles does not affect your hitrate. The amount of hits you manage in those battles does.

I wouldn't bother calculating it at all since apart from if it's very low or very high you can't really draw any solid conclusions from it. You have a different percentage of battles played in both classes and tiers, someone playing more arty would be more likely to have a lower hit rate than one that don't, someone playing more tier 3 battles than tier 10 would most likely have a lower hit rate and so on.

Compare individual tank stats, not account overall.

Why? It could have been better, worse, equal.

Don't worry about hit rate. Worry about the damage you deal. If you fire more, then, even by a chance, you will deal more damage. "You miss all the shots you didn't fire" as they say. Take your chances with shots, shoot blind if you think the enemy might be hiding in some bushes, shoot houses that the enemy is hiding behind. Keep firing.

Hitrate is kind of a pointless metric. My hit ratio is 60,84%, doesn't keep me from doing fairly allright. Might suggest that I would be better if I hit - or that I take low-probability shots like a true hero.

Anyway, may we talk about your other stats? I find it rather hilarious that players of your caliber are worrying about the [edited] hit rate of all things - while you should be concerned about a winrate approaching AFK-levels.

Your mate, on the other hand, is just funny. His winrate is so terrible that I find it really hard to believe that it's achieved without literally sabotaging the team. If he was terrible at T10s, it's natural - but he does the very same crapin his T8s. Seriously, 44% is quickly approaching intentionally sabotaging his team.

I simply asked which one of us would have the better hit rate with more balanced amount of battles etc etc. Not the other stats, but yes i agree he plays alot of matches just trolling and suiciding. Its really annoying lol

Edit:

None of us are worrying about OUR hit rate stats, or any other. We're simply asking, or well im asking which us of have the best since we were discussing about it:)

the hitrate is highly dependable on the tank/gun you use, comparing the overall hit ratio is kinda pointless. You would have to compare them for each tank individually. The number of battles has nothing to do with it though.

And besides, the hit ratio is one of the most useless stats anyways :)

Yes, I'd also like to know how you calculate a hit ratio by using 6th year math (or I suppose you mean maths when not in the USA)?

You take how many shots you fire.

Then how many you hit an enemy.

Work out the percentage of shots you fire which hit.

And TBH neither of you has a good hit rate.  You should both stop shooting at birds.

good advice, I'll just add : don't hesitate to snap shot while moving (when the reload time won't be a problem), how often you hit will be a really good surprise.

I wouldn't worry about hit rate much, it depends a lot on what kind of tanks you play.

And you miss 100% of every shots you don't take anyway

Hit ratio really counts for Jack in fact most stats do.
WR (Win Rate) prob best general indication with WN8 2nd (As WN8 can lead to certain dubious play styles).
I am 70% HR so that proves how much HR counts as it isn't an indication of a good player.
Just means I am old slow and generally only let one fly when its a definite shot and I am less prone for the odd quick snap shot.

Really unless you compare like for like IE same tank with similar crews and setup non of it counts for Jack.
Get in the same tank and go for 50 battles and see where you come in the tank ratings (Hall of Fame) as don't use historical data that may be quite old.

Aha. Sure thing.

Your thinking is a bit off. Your hitrate doesn't decrease with more battles played. It's usually opposite, due to gaining better ability to lead shots, when to shoot and playing tanks with better gun handling and higher reload (i.e. forces you to aim unless you want to waste a fifteen-second reload). That is probably why your friend has a higher hit ratio.

Also, you're totally different players. Statistics like average spotted per game and average cap/defense points per game suggest that he's a bit more of  a passive player than you are. No wonder someone hits a fair amount of shots if they sit still. Hence, comparing hit ratios is pointless in so many ways.

Hit rate = number of shots that hit expressed as a percentage of the number of shots fired. Easy. Nothing to do with the number of battles played. If theory, the more battles you play the better you should become and the more shots you should hit with.

Does it mean anything in reality? Not really. You have tanks that fire a burst of machine gun shells, some hit, some miss. You have shots that hit but do no damage. They all count. So fire 3 or 4 shots, each bounces, but all hit, so 100% hit rate. Big deal. The only thing it tells you if you have a high hit rate, is that at least you hit more. The more shots that hit, the better the odds of doing damage, but only if you hit the spots where damage can be done, and of course if rng is on your side.

Hitrate is just another pointless stat that can be manipulated.

To increase it simply play low tier machine gun tanks from close range and only fire at stationary targets. Also never blind fire or play arty.

Or you can play to win battles and support your team
