Limited to tier Vi to VIII, I find it very hard to find opponents who will keep bouncing shells on me without switching to HE/skill shells after a couple of tries.

For T28 HTC I assume... it's totally doable in Caernarvon, but you need to learn how to use your armor.

I did it for the t55a in the patriot but did come close a few times in the t29 if you can get a good hulldown spot and a game with no arty. It's pretty map and team dependant though.

Well, whenever I find a hull-down position, some T-54 (sorry Homer!) with HEAT comes along and shoot straight through the turret, or some big gun Jap tosses the trash-can over it lol

Interesting.

My Type 59 only has AP, APCR, and HE.

And the APCR has only a slim chance of going through the front of the Caernarvon turret and no chance with the T29.

I shall write a letter of complaint immediately, I have clearly been sold a duff 'un.

From the ones in the tech tree...hull down T29, hulldown gold spamming T32, caernarvon, ah almost forgot...the almighty stupidity proof mini maus aka VK 100.01 P...hulldown Emil...and that's it...
From the premium ones...defender, hulldown lowe, hulldown T34, top tier gold spamming chrysler, top tier 112(hiding the lower plate), top tier patriot, top tier liberte...and i guess...that's it...at least these cross my mind right now.

VK100.01P would be the safest bet, KV-4 does also the trick.

You just need the proper enemies, e.g. if you face a JT8,8 it doesn't really matter what ammo he's using if he has 240mm+ effective armor in front of him.

Everyone switches to HE when they realise they can pen.

I am still struggling with that mission for T55A, closest I have been was 34 damage done short with ST-I. Bounced over 7500 that game...

Just get the OI as a top tier on mines with no arta ;)

And yeah, you need sufficiently bad teammates and opponents.

http://wotreplays.eu/site/2382571

More relevant on topic though. You need a tank with some kind of weakspot but a tough one to hit. a t32 och an is7 turret hulldoown people usually just give up on and stop firing. You also don't want people to shoot your tracks since that won't count as blocked so sidescraping is out. I would probably still recommend the t29.

Lots of people on that tier doesn't know what a hulldown monster it is and the weakpoint on top LOOKS really weak even if it isn't.

I had a look at tanks you owned & should be doable with Caernavon & the Black Prince. Caernavon is indeed about finding a good spot hulldown; one with a slight reverse slope would be excellent, to further increase the armor.

Do pay a visit to tanks gg for a good look at the armor model, see how far you can turn the turret before it becomes easy penetrable (so you got an idea on how wide the angle can be for incoming shots) + how good a reverse slope makes the armor on hulldown.

Don't make the classic mistake of staying visible, only expose when need to be, so people don't switch to HE so fast.

If you spot a HE gun (jap heavies by example) focus him down, make him suffer for even thinking of firing HE at you.

Black prince also works, if you still got it (not exactly keeper material), it has good armor that can bounce well, even in the open when you angle properly & generally doesn't attract that much prem ammo & HE attention.

In short, of tanks you own, Caernavon is your best bet, followed by Black prince.

I did ht12-2 in my t29 during the chistmas special.
Me hulldown and an m6 that died in 1 min vs 8 enemys.
I blocked 5k and did 4kdmg before they got to me.

You just need to find the right (special) team :)

I did my Obj 260 HT 12 by driving my Maus out in the field of Malinovka, angeled a bit and bounced about 11k then pulled back.(i started pulling back when i was push 8k, but they tracked me for another minute. Timed repair when i was close enough to get behind cover again.

Was my 3rd try.

for the T28 mission set, doable in most tanks.

for the T55 mission set, very much dependant on luck. you have to score 2000 damage so you can't just sit around and bounce 3x your HP, do you eventually have to shoot something.

So you need an enemy who is stupid enough to keep shooting and not load HE or Gold. you also need a team bad enough that they don't kill everything before you score your 2000HP. but not quite bad enough that you die before you score your damage and bounce.

I've been trying for months.

Completing HT-12 isn't that much of how well you do - it is about how badly your enemies do.

Completed it for the T-55A with the M103 just by sidescraping as a top tier.
